Been looking for a old Cooey .22 single shot bolt myself. I had my gramps gun. but it was so used that once it was tilted above 45 degrees , just the gravity on the trigger would be enough for it to go off.

Got an old Cooey 30 . 06 i polished it up some. It has a model 70 action. Pretty plain jane old gun. I have never shot it i dont think.
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

Any one else enjoy shooting sports? or is that for another forum )?
Metallic silhouette used to be real popular at Vernon, and other clubs too I bet.
How about rimfire silhouette ? or the newer rimfire precision rifle events, like the one coming to Merritt in August 12th
A whole lot cheaper to shoot than the big bore events

Women complain about having to pay an extra $10 for pink skates, so I guess I should complain about having to pay an extra $150 for camo... https://www.cabelas.ca/product/291/bene ... n-shotguns

Let's assume no willows in the way... a 30.06, or a .270 ? Both are painful after ramming a box through...or is it just me?

I'm actually surprised you don't have it (not sure why I think that). I've shot a lot of different rifles etc. and wish I went into competition - never the opportunity.

I came to firearms after a violent home invasion. Fought off two armed attackers . With my fists. After that i joined the NRA. Armed myself. Started collecting and restoring old Winchesters. Took a different path in life i suppose.

Since we are talking about firearms, let's shift gears a little.

I have my PAL (non-restricted), I have a couple of long guns, but I'm far from a gun enthusiast/expert. Hopeing to get some insight from those that are more knowledgeable.

Big reason I got my PAL was so I could inherit my grandfather's guns after he passed away. He didn't have anything new or fancy, he had family heirlooms. Anyway, I'd like your opinion on what to do with this particular rifle that I've fallen in love with. I wish I has spend more time with him talking about his guns and this history...there was always tomorrow until there wasn't

The story about this particular rifle was that I was given to my grandfather by his grandfather, he wanted to continue the cycle and give it to his grandson. I plan to do the same someday. It's a Winchester model 1892, lever action chambered in 44-40, according to the serial number it was made in 189x sometime (forget the exact year). It's approximately 120 years old.

The problem I have is that we come from a long line of poor as dirt farmers. This gun was a farmers daily carry for a long time and it shows in the condition. Good news is that after minor disassembly for cleaning and oiling, and a bit of a struggle to find ammo, it shoots real nice.

So here's my question: Do I leave it as is or do I restore it? I have no experience with restoration of old guns. It's an heirloom that'll never be sold, but I'd still hate to hurt it's value. I don't think it's very valuable in the condition it's in anyway. I'm kinda torn. It would be really nice to have it looking in better shape. I also kinda like the wear and tear as a testament to the family history. Thoughts?

Thanks for the input. Sorry, I really am pretty uneducated when it comes to firearms.
- Round barrel
- Not sure what a saddle ring is
- Don't know how to judge rifling condition. Likely poor although I'm surprised with how accurately I'm able to shoot with it.

Yes, I had landed on a value of approximately $500 myself. Glad to have that number backed up. Thanks!
