If thats the case then Brazil should have won in 2014, South Africa in 2010, Germany in 2006, Korea or Japan in 2002 (none did). Last time the host team won the World Cup was France in 1998, before that 1978 Argentina.
I looked back at last 10 World Cups, host team has won only 2... add to that in other 8 they were not even the runner-up.

It has do with caliber of players on the field, not home field.

Once a game goes to shoot out... then its just pure luck won wins.

Hard to have a sensible debate with you when you're always being ridiculous. I said home field advantage, not home field guarantee. I never said home field is 100%. It is around 70% in soccer.

^^^ well with that said, Russia is I'm sure is hopping for a Denmark win. There chances increase with Croatia gone, on getting to the Semi-finals.

Added later: I'm not on this forum to win any popularity contests... okay.

Russia gets Croatia in quarter finals, Denmark has been eliminated.
(I'm not a fan of the shoot out)

Tomorrow games should be very interesting.

My pick to win 2018 World Cup plays Japan in second game. Can Mexico beat Brazil, this one should be good.

They played smart and managed to beat a much stronger team with some luck. That's pretty deserving.

But hey, that's me. I like cheering for underdogs.

I did not watch the game, I suspect Russia played a defensive game. In hockey it's called trap, extremely boring but very effective if done right.
Iran tried it against Portugal in group stage, without success.

Just seen hi-light of Swedish goal, I'm sure Swiss player would want to bury himself after that mistake. Goaltender more then likely would have stopped it, them there are the breaks.

I can only imagine what the coach had to say ......

Some of these players should get an Oscar for best (worst) Actor!
I know the voices aren't real but they sure do come up with some good ideas!

One of the best players in the world, and also one of the most generous with his time and money. What a loser. His rolling around is ridiculous, but so is judging someone based on their worst moments.
