Myra Canyon Day Oct 6

Postby [email protected] » Oct 7th, 2018, 12:08 pm

noticed that oct 6 is myra canyon day.

this area provides a great opportunity for Okanagan residents to routinely enjoy. As well, it is a major tourist attraction for our area. I recall about a year ago, there was some provincial or federal grant $ given out to make any desired improvements to the area and tat there was some talk about installing wifi to the tresses areas.

If you have visited the tresses, you will know that the 2 access points are gravel roads and they are routinely in TERRIBLE CONDITION ( potholes, ruts, bumps etc). lets take this opportunity on oct 6 to support improving the 2 access roads (at the very least black top them) to this local treasure.

I was thinking the same thing. Before making such a declaration maybe the mayor should take a drive up there. The roads suck. Atleast go over them with a grader once in a while

Nevermind,I forgot he doesn't drive, and doesn't expect anyone else to neither.

Why would they blacktop them? So unprepared idiots can attempt to go up there only to get surprised that their Audi Q5 still isn't a match for those roads?
Sure do love Rutland!!

Glad to see others feel the same way about the access roads. I do not go to the trestles any more because the roads are washboard, washed out sections and often have big rocks on them. Fix them please.

Frankly I think the whole area was ruined when they removed the tracks, installed decks and railings imho.

It's like the greenway, I used to go there often, not now ...too many people..

Some areas are best kept in their remote setting, prevents saturation.... jmo...

And some of us do ride a bike up there ... full suspension of course, it's rugged and natural ... to enjoy the scenery

People in cars need more "convenience"?

I doubt the locals want that people already drive like a holes up and down june springs combine that with the fact that the service roads pass through private property it wont happen no matter how much you beg, it would be completely idiotic to even consider paving a forestry service road if its to rough for you stay home where you belong :swear:

Your kid doesn't practice hockey at Memorial arena on Tuesday night , huh ?

Basran drives alright ...He's got a slick ride .

Unless he lets Max use the Mayors parking stall and that's her car in that spot ...

Sure it is ... But just like the West Coast Trail, travelers should be warned of the conditions they are heading in to .. Rough roads , no facilities et al ...

Yeup ... Lets "commercialize" the bush..

That'd be the end of the bush ....
