Electric bicycles - any experience, tips or advice?

Post by Quryvannd »

I'm thinking of buying an electric cycle and although I've done some research I would really appreciate the input from anyone who has experience of buying/riding one.
Many thanks in advance

E-bikes are a good option, lots of different features to choose from ...

I'd suggest getting one without a throttle, pedal-assist is the best way to get the most out of the battery and it also helps keeps you engaged ...

When I get an e-bike for commuting (right now the one I use is for cargo/passenger carrying) it'll be a mid-drive system internal hub belt-drive ... but that's if I don't have to worry about money ...

Most all of our local bike shops carry different brands of e-bikes, there is also Kelowna E-Ride which specializes in e-bikes first ... they'll have the best information for you ... take a test-drive, different systems react differently and you need to find one that will be comfortable

They are heavier bikes, good to get a center-stand and not just a side-stand ...

p.s. how did this post end up in "Bickering Room" instead of "Referrals" or "Sports"?

Moved it for ya. :topic:
Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

Try to stay away from Chinese ones.

Yep, I have one (a tip). Don't ever get in front of one roaring down the Okanagan Rail Trail. Those things need a speed limit posted to save us poor pedestrians from horrendous accident should there be a collision. Stay on the rail trail the whole way and I bet it would hardly take 15 mins. to get from the airport to the lake. The only impediments would be said pedestrians, and crossing Sexsmith, Dilworth, Spall and a few others.

I've gotta add that electrifying bicycles seems like cheating - lol.
