Speaking of theories behind the slowdown ... heard a new one tonight ... with the flood closing the Lake Ave Beach, the Mill Creek bridge and the tunnel under the bridge more people have been forced to use the pedestrian crossing at Abbott St ... active transportation revenge on cars eh?

While the tunnel is open again the bridge over Mill Creek is still locked shut so nothing would have a chance to change yet ...

Wow, at that time of day that is extremely rare.

Yes, people are driving too slow through school zones. I go a minimum of 60 so as to keep traffic flowing. :admin:

Bridge traffic has increased exponentially this week. Tried to avoid it by leaving early for work today but was right in the thick of it at 7:30. Going to try waiting until 8:30 tmrw and see if it's any better.

Sneeners were in full detour mode yesterday. Left for work at 7:15 today instead, smooth sailing... until the sneeners are merging.

The sneeners were in full u-turn mode today. The line up on Sneena was longer than the backup on the hwy. So sad when a selfish plan backfires.

And later, we got to the Westside overpass at around 8.35 and the sneeners were backed up towards the First Nation offices and people were turning around [icon_lol2.gif] I just stayed in right lane and gently cruised stop start until we hit the merge at bottom of hill but way quicker than the back road.
My bet is that road will be quieter tomorrow as everyone avoids it and stays on the highway.

Another oddball decision seems to be digging up Shannon lake rd and having stop/go flaggers at Old Okanagan highway intersection right now. This is the main diversion route for the closed bridge so why the heck add more construction in middle of diversion route? It just seems to force more people to go through Shannon Ridge and right through the busy school zone, well 2 school zones of course there is Constable Neil Bruce too. That intersection is a gong show at best of times!!

Drove across the bridge at 7:30 today and was clear sailing. Thinking I may have been a little later than 7:45 yesterday, probably closer to 8. Either way, I'm going to head into work at 7:15 and leaving around 3. Will see if those times avoid the snarl.

I call it the 100 club. For the long stretches without traffic lights, you have to keep up or someone will be riding your back bumper. This morning, some eager fellow was riding my back bumper at 90, I suppose I wasn't close enough to the Stutters utility van in front? Once he figured out there was no where in front of the van for him to go, he showed us all how to tailgate that van, I tell ya. Hyuk

How dare you leave space in front of you. Don't you know driving is like the game of Tetris, no gaps allowed dammit!

Met friends for breakfast over in West Kelowna.
From my place to the Cafe 12 minutes.... return trip (on 97 at 8:30) 25 minutes so about twice as long. Did happen to notice the route causing large part of the problem at bottom of the hill is a transit route, that unfortunately kills idea blocking that road.
