DCT Chambers safety???
Looks like DCT Chambers needs to hire a new mechanic. A trailer goes on fire in Rutland last night from brake failure I think , and another loses rear trailer wheels on Hwy. 97 today in West Kelowna. Maintenance sounds very sloppy...

Wheel heat events can occur anytime under a multitude of contributing factors, learn what you're talking about first before you make such stupid claims.

Re: DCT Chambers safety???
I'm sure the fire was a result of over heated brakes coming down 33...
Can't really blame a mechanic for the drivers foot being hard on the brakes .

Makes me wonder if it wasn’t the same trailer in both incidents. Put back into service too soon?
The article says it lost at least one wheel, where did the other one go? They are dually.

Nope, different style (mfg.?) of trailer, different axle group. The fire was rear trailer, back axle group.
The wheel off, on the tri group of the lead.
Since the wheel off showed the brake drum still in place, I'll venture an improper torque after a flat
repair resulting in sheared studs.

Third party shop. BC Transit in Kelowna had that happen 6 years ago.

Whatever happened to drivers doing a pre-trip inspection?
What about the regular MVI inspections for commercial trucks and trailers?

Pre-trips don't catch everything. Lug nuts can be finger tight (which is all you can do on a pre-trip) but if they're not torqued right, they can come off en route. Can and does happen to cars especially during tire change season. When was the last time you checked your lugs?

Do you ?
It was an unfortunate incident, luckily, no one hurt or killed.
Like anything, sometimes things slip through.
Re-torques are required after a couple hundred K after any wheel off service.
My experience with slip seat trucks (two drivers sharing one rig, a 12 hour shift each)
Chambers model.
Is many things get left for the 'next' guy, then nothing gets done.

Dirt Cheap Trucking need we say more. In defense of us so called professional drivers I would just like to point out to you four wheelers that I see many more personal vehicle infractions than trucker ones. However trucker ones are always in the news. Four wheelers need to do a pretrip as well periodically as I see lots of one head lite wonders -- no brake lites -- one signal and numerous other hazards. Check all yer lites before ya leave for Super Store. K !!!

Ya, and don't worry, that tire is only flat on the bottom...
