CHBC

Just wondering if I was one of the few who noticed that on CHBC this evening, instead of the local news from 5:30 to 6:00 PM tonight, the station showed the Global National News, and at 6:00 PM the same Global National News.

So did someone forget to throw a switch ?

Perhaps CHBC has seen the writing on the wall and are packing up.

It doesn't really matter, I guess. The 30 minutes of CHBC weekend evening news is normally comprised of 10 minutes of news from other affiliates, 5 minutes of weather, with someone pretending (talking like they experienced the weather they are reporting) to be local. Some ads and hey possibly some real local news, as long as there weren't too many ducklings crossing a roadway, or some other breaking news that took precedent.

Becoming a very sad product. Too bad, there are some good people there.

My guess is that the station is no longer the cash cow it once was. Yes, we also noticed that the usual 5:30 Sunday newscast wasn’t local but was Global National. I have found that I can get all of the local / provincial / national news in any 15 minute interval. Then, it’s all repeated ad infinitum. If I miss something really important, I can feel confident that it will still be “Breaking News” 3 days later!
After my 15 minutes of local news, I promptly switch to KTLA Los Angeles. Good news, much more entertaining, and no Pee-Wee Herman doing weather.
