GREEN DAY vs COLDPLAY

Post by Zelley. »

GREEN DAY - Interesting receiving a DVD of the Milton Keynes event
along with the CD's.

However, I like Coldplay better than Green Day.

Bullet In A Bible is the latest CD I bought. I love this CD. I haven't watched the DVD yet. It wouldn't play in my computer's DVD drive. Hopefully it works in my DVD player.

I can't really comment much on Coldplay. I've heard a few of their songs on the radio, and they were okay, but I haven't listened to enough of their stuff to form much of an opinion.

"Clocks" & "Broken Dreams"

Post by Zelley. »

The tune "clocks" is as good as it gets.

If you like the Moody Blues & Pink Floyd, you should dig Coldplay.

Of interest the lead singer of Coldplay and Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues are both West Country born with their special singing style.

While driving, I have been replaying the "Clocks" tune.
Last summer, it was Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
and the one about Eliza Day called the "Wild Rose".

Of course, Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is great.
The title is taken from and old picture with the likes of James Dean.

The term "broken dreams" has a "volume" of meanings.
I cobbled together the following at one time:
"A river of tears teardrop by lonely teardrop
could never wash away the lost hopes and dreams..."
"The Old Familiar Faces" - Charles Lamb
"All. all, are gone, the old familiar faces"

Like both, not fanatic about either, but is comparing the two fair? Coldplay is more laid back contemporary while Green Day rock and "punk". So they are called. I think punk I think Sex Pistols or the Cramps.

One funny thing about Coldplay....... One of my fave movies "Shaun of the Dead" has the special thingys on their DVD and it has a skit with the lead singer of Coldplay along with another bandmate saying how the rest of the band was turned into zombies...yada, yada, yada, very funny.

If you can't hear how much Green Day is influenced by The Clash and Stiff Little Fingers you shouldn't listen to music.

The punk is there.

COLDPLAY, GREEN DAY & KILLERS

Post by Zelley. »

 Purchased the following yesterday:
Coldplay "X & Y", Green Day "Bullet In A Bible", Killers "Hot Fuss"

Bullet In A Bible - from War Museum in London, the band toured the museum and saw the actual bible with the bullet.

Killers CD starts with "Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine" and ends
with "Everything Will Be Alright", the Coldplay one has "White Shadows"
and "Swallowed In The Sea" while the Green Day CD has
"Tales Of Another Broken Home".

A distant cousin of mine living in Milton Keynes did attend
the Green Day show, her mother told me her daughter thought it was excellent. :D

The various tunes have a broad range from friends, broken homes & twisted logic. THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT.
"The Old Familiar Faces" - Charles Lamb
"All. all, are gone, the old familiar faces"

You would have a hard time finding a popular band that was NOT influenced by the Clash or the Jam.

Green Day Rocks.
I wouldn't miss Coldplay if they vanished.
Going today, hear tommorow

From (X & Y) as listed by Trainer, two thought provoking, hard hitting
tunes are "Talk" and "Speed of Sound", but from another CD "Clocks"
is also fantastic :D

Actually, you'd have a hard time finding a poular band that is not influenced by Green Day and Nirvana. While they were both infuenced by the Clash, that does not mean bands influenced by them were infuenced by the Clash.
