Why are the downtown nightclubs empty?
Re: Why are the downtown nightclubs empty?
I used to get dolled up.

Here I thought there was nothing lower than a snakes belly in a rut in a ditch. I was wrong.

Its a pain in the arse to go downtown. Parking sucks so you have to leave vehicle too far away and hope it doesnt get violated .

If you plan on going downtown to the clubs and drinking, take a cab.
Add the price of the cab, (both ways), + door fees, + coat check, + tips, + overpriced drinks, = $$$$$ for music that you can get for free on the internet = priceless waste of money.

Re: Why are the downtown nightclubs empty?
last nightclub in Penticton closed recently. Another micro brewery taking its place.
A few things in my opinion: demographics, young don't have the disposable income to piddle it down the toilet any more or the same extent as years past.
Drunk driving penalties and perhaps getting a cab is difficult when you have spent your money on booze. What's the bus service like at 2 AM?
Penticton I believe just does not have the 20-30 year old crowd to sustain a year round nightclub.
Property taxes, insurance, lease rates have gone up.
Wonder if Fort Mack has nightclubs?

Kelowna Nightclubs are all empty because most of them are in the seediest part of town that attract the like.
When is someone ever going to build a classy club in a safe desirable area of Kelowna and oh yes...with good live music !
The Gator is the only club with 'not bad' live music 'sometimes',but any decent person going in there feels 'scuzzy' in this scuzzy part of town!

I don't remember the Ko Ko. Angies was always a bit skeezy. I remember when there was a Country bar downtown, The Silver Spur and the Saddle Room. There was also The Zoo. I never went to the original Cave, but everyone said it was far better than the new one in the A&B Sound building.
For a while, there were rickshaw boys downtown. You could park or walk down there and for a few bucks a fit young man would taxi you to all the clubs via rickshaw. It was a blast.
Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.
