Re: Any Restaurants Open Christmas Day In Kelowna?
Is there a "What PUB is open Christmas Day " thread ???
Lets face it , when the brats are done opening up the envelopes and the trinkets , made in China , with plastic , I get to clean up the *bleep* .... Then I put the bird in the oven ..
Who needs to watch a turkey cook for four hours ?? I want a cold pint and a smoke on the deck with a Keno ticket in my hand ..
Brats can play with the plastic without my help. They're old enough ..
I just wanna go to ANY local and have a beer.. SO ..
What PUBS are open Christmas day ??

Students cook for 500
Culinary wizards are testing their craft by feeding 500 people this holiday season.
Chefs-in-training at Okanagan College in Kelowna put their culinary talents to good work prepping turkeys, stuffing and gravy for a room full of people at an upcoming holiday dinner at Parkinson Rec Centre.
The 15 culinary arts students have been under the tutelage of Chef Vincent Stufano and Chef Instructors Jim Armstrong and Mike Barilaro.

A few of the busier McDonalds are often open on Christmas. Just don’t be that guy that pulls up to drive thru and tries to order a turkey dinner. The three people in front of you also said the same thing.
You could also try using Skip the Dishes. They will show what restaurants are open and serving.
In my younger days I took every opportunity I could to work Christmas. Stat Pay?! Yes please!

Yep, because people are to damn lazy to actually learn to cook.
You have my compassion for your having to go through life with the mind capacity of a simpleton. Life must be tough with such narrow views.
I am 63 years old and I am an excellent cook and VERY hard-working. I've spent every Christmas since I was about 16 years old, standing on my feet in the kitchen for several hours to prepare feasts for my family and/or loved ones. I not only cook a big meal but I also serve several appetizers and desserts. While I'm doing that, any men in the house can generally be found snoozing, watching TV or relaxing. (Does that sound familiar to you Gordon H?). After enjoying the big meal, I am left to clean up for another several hours. This year, I thought it might be nice if I could enjoy a Christmas... IF that's alright with you, of course. I'm sorry to move out of your stereotypical understanding but perhaps, in time, you'll forgive.
Could somebody please let me know if there are any nice restaurants open Christmas Day?

Just the opposite in my family, Easter, Mothers Day, Thanksgiving & christmas. My Dad along with my brothers & myself took care of all cooking and baking, of course the clean up as well.
My Mom and my sisters had those holidays off & could do whatever they wanted.
(this also applied to each Birthday)

Re: Any Restaurants Open Christmas Day In Kelowna?
We have always taught our kids/family to help with the clean up after having any meal at our house. We cook they clean.
It's a lot of work to prepare a Turkey dinner for a group and if they can't bother to at least help with the clean up then they can eat elsewhere.
I say we cook because it is a daily fact of life that both my Wife and I cook and clean up after meals. Mostly I cook and Mrs Suds preps the veggies and cleans up the dishes and I will dry and put them away.
Unless a person is the designated stay at home then both should share the household duties.

Re: Any Restaurants Open Christmas Day In Kelowna?
fair number of places open - Smack Dab, the El, Asian Pear, Tokyo1, Denny's
I'd rather go out to eat and treat everyone than slaving in the kitchen then the clean up
Smack Dab offers a fab Xmas breakfast buffet with an omelette station
Of course places like Mickey Ds open, usually hotel restaurants open
NOt sure if Skip the Dishes works, unless you doing McDonalds
Lots of people don't celebrate Christmas, then there are people with no family, or people who's plans get cancelled last minute because hosts coming down with some crud
And if you have to work Boxing Day ppl aren't going to drive to say Sask to be with the family for one day
But HEY - we can all go to Gordon's!!!!!!!!

Re: Any Restaurants Open Christmas Day In Kelowna?
Just throwing this out there...
Not everyone is able to be in their home jurisdiction at Christmas.
Many peoples jobs and careers have them well and far away from "home"
and I can attest, it is like an oasis in a desert to go somewhere with a
touch of atmosphere and a nicely prepared sit down meal.
Far cry better than boiling up yet another bowl of Ichiban and yet
another stale cheese sandwich in the bunk of a truck.
or 7-11 fare in a hotel room.
Merry Christmas.

Apparently the Asian Pear will be open. Could give them a call to confirm, and they do a Turkey dinner so I heard.
