Food Saver bags are made from food grade material. You can also use Ziploc bags. Most restaurants use sous vide then finish the dish on the grill, saute pan, etc.

This site should answer any questions you have.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

We have had a Vacuum sealer machine for many years and as far as I am aware the bags are safe.
We can keep stuff in the freezer way longer than with other methods.

I don't think cooking in them is going to be any different.

It's more of just the idea of it. Probably just reminds me of eating IMP's when I was in the military.

I'm pretty sure that what I cook Sous Vide will be better than "anything" the Navy fed me!

I did Sirloin Steaks with Sous Vide and they came out quite good. My DW's steak was a bit chewy but mine was awesome.

I dunno, I was in Esquimalt once at the Navy base and ate from their kitchen, it was pretty good. Better than a field kitchen.

I was on a joint exercise with the USA in Alaska. The 'Mericans were providing the kitchen. I remember being served some waffles at breakfast and the servers dirty cuff of their parka was in my food. Yuck.

Did you offer to switch steaks with your DW or did you happily watch her naw on it while enjoying your own?

What is a "DW"?

I got a cookbook for Christmas but haven't had time to look at it yet.

Mrs Suds is not a Mushroon fan  (anyone want to switch Wives for dinner on occasion so I can have shrooms?)

Brings a new meaning to wife swapping.

Mrs. Tree is way too fussy of an eater for me to put that on anyone. It has taken me years to figure it out.

Ya we are polar opposites on some foods. The only time I get some of the things I like are when we go out for dinner. lol

O.o

Really? I can't stand seafood but I will make sure DH gets it. Son can't stand mushrooms so I'll fry up a batch to have on the side (with an omelette, or steaks).

Daughter pulled out the deep fryer yesterday (I wasn't sure we still had it, it had last been used years ago!). Onion rings and churros - yum! But getting the oil smell out of the house :-X

I need to make eggs for this week's lunches. I think that is my favourite thing to make in the instant pot.
PLEASE use spellcheck. If that is too hard, consider installing the Grammarly (free!) app that will not only spellcheck for you (AND offer corrections!) but also make sure that your sentences are grammatically correct.

You're welcome.

To get the smell out, pour some lemon juice (bottled is fine) into a bowl. Put it in the microwave so it is steaming, place the bowl in the room that smells. I will do a couple of them if it is bad, fish and such. Works like a charm.

I also want to know what kind of eggs you cook.

Thanks, GG! will have to try that.

Oh, hardboiled eggs are a go-to in our house for lunches. Put them in the lunch whole, with a shaker of seasoning salt, or mash up for egg salad sandwiches. A nice way to put a bit of protein in the meal. I'll do a batch once a week (more, if kids are eating them too). When everyone eats them we go through a fair amount of eggs.
