Kelowna’s Saigon Noodle House Closed!

Just found out that my favourite Asian joint has closed permanently. I will certainly miss the #46 with extra veg.

I worked as a waitress there for a while.
People would ask me what the rice stick was and as the only white person there, I had no idea and the owner didn't want to tell me.

Lemon Grass chicken there was the most popular order.

They absolutely REFUSED to go with the times and get interact, even years later.
Here I thought there was nothing lower than a snakes belly in a rut in a ditch. I was wrong.

We found out before Christmas. I am gutted!
If we had known they were closing, we would have gone one last time and wished them a fond retirement.
Before we moved to Westbank, we lived downtown and ate there at least twice a week.

I didn't like the Summerland Pho restaurant and am not surprised it's closed.

There is a brand new Vietnamese restaurant in South Pandosy though, and I plan to investigate its lemongrass offerings.

Did you work for the original owners or Bing and Ching?

I don't remember the original owners' names, but they sold the restaurant in about 1997? When the new owners took over, they had run a Chinese restaurant in Calgary. They brought with them a full Chinese menu, but kept the Vietnamese menu.
Whenever they got to know a "regular" they would ask how the food was. They worked really hard to make sure they kept the food the same as the previous owners. They were always surprised how spicy people liked the Vietnamese menu.

There was a waitress named Rebecca who worked there off and on for many years.

Try the Lemon Grass in Vernon. I've even seen a Vietnamese family drive all the way from Kamloops to go there for dinner.
