So has anyone else dropped to a lower service on Netflix because of the price increase?

We did because for the most part in the Winter we don't watch it enough to warrant paying the higher price.

Also just signed up for Amazon prime for the included shipping so we get that now as well.

Easy Peasy...the only thing they get you on is the internet service...but you have to have that to gain media without cable.

Have not had cable or satellite for almost 5 years. But I do watch Netflix and YouTube alot.

dont have amazon prime as I dont do much buying from amazon to gain that "free" service.

But I do have a android box that fills the rest of the void. and If I do really want to watch a movie...Bluray...nothing beats the sound vs something streaming.

I hope the Disney service will add some competition.

how would Disney do it. They really do not like to have R rated movies....so Deadpool is up in the air and same with Punisher show. Those 2 for sure would never have been made with Disney around from the beginning. I like Horror and lots of action. Disney could never do it unless....unless...they make 2 streaming Disney and Fox...now you have to subscribe to another channel...pretty much after all these subs...you might as well make a cable system again and pay 100 a month

Disney has enough entertainment properties under their umbrella that their own streaming service (or a suite of streaming services) would probably do quite well.

Disney Animation Studios
Pixar Animation Studios
ABC Network
A&E Network (50% stake)
ESPN
Lucasfilm
Marvel Studios

You can't think of Disney just as a purveyor of theme parks and kid-friendly content. They are still that, but they are a massive, MASSIVE media conglomerate. They've got the content and the money to go toe-to-toe with Netflix tomorrow if they really wanted to.
