SC Superstore Ethnic Isle...Or Lack Of

Post by Symbonite »

Man they really destroyed the Ethnic Food isle in Stupidstore...You used to be able to find alot of great stuff there in that Isle....Now a wall of Sriracha hot sauce has replaced it.....AND its made in California to boot....

My favourite aisle

The Walmart I shop at in Richmond has 3 aisles of just Asian specialty stuff and a live seafood section. Walmart in South Surrey has a couple aisles of South Asian stuff and the Walmart in Tsawwassen has an Italian aisle

If we're talking about Superstore in Kelowna in my opinion they threw a bunch of 6 yr old kids in there for the re-design when they put the wine store in. So bad they had to produce printed out tear-off maps where to find stuff.

Yes of course it sounds like a great idea to find … the tin foil beside the dog food beside the pork & beans beside the coffee beside the soda crackers beside the soup beside the breakfast cereal beside the lightbulbs beside the Kleenex beside the laundry detergent beside the salad dressings beside the Kraft dinner...it just goes on and on. Which by the way I have to buy in Groups of 3 if I want the mega displayed price !

On the bright side I get more exercise shopping there because usually when I'm in Aisle 9 I have to go back to Aisle 1 where I never figured the item would be.
It's pretty bad when you ask an employee "where can I find XXX" and that glazed over look appears! I've actually had them say "it's in Aisle 4" then it's not and I see the same employee that I questioned and she says "oh go ask her" when another employee appears.

It's such a BAD design HOWEVER I actually DO remember where to find my vermouth soaked martini olives now!

The best part of the Stupid Store is the exit.
I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.
That's worked out great for me!

Totally agree. Other store also group their products into cuisines rather than just throwing stuff on a shelf wherever it fits. Its such a shame because I really don't mind shopping there. Better there than Walmart any day of the week.

It's too bad what their "people" did with the store layout.

IMO, the gutting of the ethnic food aisle is the latest blunder. I remember that they used to have an aisle right down the middle of the store? It made cutting across to the next aisle quicker, instead of having to go all the way around.

Then there are those two wine aisles that are blocked off in the morning until 9:00.

I swear that they must have hired some Las Vegas casino designers who love blocking you to make you gamble more. In this case, maybe shopping more.

Another isle just for sauces. This all that I could get into frame.

There's an asian supermarket at hwy 97 and hwy 33, they'll have it. It's not t&t but they do have stuff superstore wouldn't have.

I think it was high water that destroyed the Isle of Ethnic Food. When it was larger and considered an actual island, I felt the selection was fantastic.

A combination of erosion and water levels turned it into an isle and now it is just a small strip (sort of an aisle or peninsula) of Siracha.

The geology of food is fascinating, indeed.

Ya I went there right after Superstore and they didn't have what I needed...Not because they don't carry it....it was everyone was going there....they saw the uptick in sales for sure...but a bit more expensive.

As for T&T....love it...but they dont do that much Mexican or Jamaican that I like to get as well.

Oh Well...the People in Toronto have NO clue!

We were in WK Superstore over the weekend. I needed more pickled turnips (a must for chicken shawarma wraps!) but they and many other items they stocked in their ethnic aisle are no longer to be found. They did have a huge section of 1 gallon cooking oil - it looked like they were using it just to fill space as it took up at least a 12' section. I don't understand their reasoning. I'm off to Med Market to see if they have what I need.
