RIP Michael Nesmith.........a big part of the early "country-rock" era in LA.
.........it was his skit "Elephant Parts" where a plea is made......."Send some money to the foundation for the Tragically Hip.".........one of two possible ideas where Canada's Tragically Hip got their name from.

I remember hearing this, maybe 40+ years ago. Micheal Nesmith was the inventor of music videos via MTV. I remember at the time thinking it will never take off. Who would want to watch a video when you can hear it on the radio, or see them thanks to Dick Clark. ....If I only bought shares

Former Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman has died. He was 88.
Lastman died at his home Saturday afternoon, CTV News learned.
Known for his flamboyance and outspokenness, Lastman served for six years as the first mayor of 'megacity' -- the name given to Toronto after the amalgamation of six municipalities in 1998.
Before that, he was the mayor of the then municipality of North York for more than two decades, from 1973 to 1997.

Vicente Fernández will be remembered "Para Siempre."
On Sunday, the Grammy-winning mariachi legend died, four months after suffering from a fall that had him on a ventilator in the ICU, according to a post on his Instagram page.
"It was an honor and a great pride to share with everyone his great musical career. He gave everything to his audience," read the post, translated to English.
"Thank you for continuing to applaud, thank you for continuing to sing," the post concluded.
