Re: Anyone remember these?
Oh yes, it brings back some fond memories of my kids watching it.
And when I told them I worked on log booms, not the rivers, they were full of awe.
Thanks for the reminder.

Re: Anyone remember these?
I remember the "cork boots" and the sign in the lobby of the bars stating "NO CORK BOOTS ALLOWED".
The bars at that time also had separate entrances for Men and Unescorted Ladies.
All the tables were covered with a red Terri-cloth, had an ashtray and a salt shaker.
Draft beer was $0.10 a glass.
The men's urinal was communal....in that it was a trough at the bottom of the wall.
One night I went into the bathroom and there was some old drunk guy on his hands and knees in that trough.
I asked him, "What the hell are you doing down there?"
He replied, "I loshed mi teef".
After all these years, I still remember that true story.

Think those " caulk" boots are at the lower end of the scale. The seams look like they face down where sticks and pokey things peel that back and start to break the stitching down. In my opinion, purchase work boots where the seam is facing up.
Although Pierre Paris and son's is not around any more, Dayton will make a set of "caulk" boots to their pattern. Owned several pair over the years. Work on the coast, add a few tricouni's as well, help in side hill climbing.
^^^ suspenders yes, but never a bra.

Yes, you are right, BUT its spelled "Calk".
Maybe the use/spelling of the term is like the difference between US and Canuck?
Like color and colour or Okanagan and Okanogon.....?
I find it surprising and refreshing that someone would pick up on that.

I passed my level 3 ASL level by signing the Lumberjack song ( had two deaf people be the choir)
All deaf people grading us, the song went over wayyy better than the poems
Lumberjack is signed tree chopped down man - just 3 motions tho

That is a choir I might excel at, since I have been banned from singing even "Happy Birthday" and any event that I have previously attended.

I know Dayton always spells it c-a-u-l-k, not sure who spells it the other way. 'Mericans?alanjh595 wrote:Yes, you are right, BUT its spelled "Calk".

My main boots when I was working on the coast were Dayton light Cruisers.
Now I see Dayton is selling to "yuppies".
What we called "logger's slippers" are now quite fashionable.
