Fresh Strawberry's

Hello, when are the strawberry's ready?
I'd like to pickup a case or two to cut up and freeze for jam, I want to surprise my sister coming from Edmonton.
She loves the Jam!

Better hurry as they have been available for awhile and won't be much longer.

The heat destroyed a lot of the crop as well.

If you can't find local strawberries to freeze, I suggest heading to Superstore and grabbing the 2lb. clamshells featured in their flyer for $3.94.

FB ad ... $45.00 for a 10 lb. flat
RCSS ... $39.40 for 10 lbs. - 5 x 2 lbs.

I called them they said yes we have some, so we went down there.
Bought 2 Flats ( 20lbs) for 90 bucks total.
Weight them when we arrived home and we only received 18 lbs!
So we were Very Disappointed!

Glad your quest for strawberries was successful. The difference in weight could be attributed to the scale you used - kitchen scale vs commercial scale.

I have a digital hand held scale that is accurate to the gram.
We bought Strawberries from a place on Rutland Rd a few years ago and when we got home we found that most of the ones on the bottom were moldy. Sure weren't picked fresh that day!

Will never go there again.

On a second note we bought Cherries from a grower in SE Kelowna and they were poor quality this year. Very soft.

Well here is the update…..
We let them know about the difference in weight, they apologized and gave us a credit in store.
We are happy that they acknowledged the error.
