2024 Losses of Notable People, Places, Objects and Animals

Post by Queen K »

Soon, 2024 will be upon us and as ever we will lose people, both important and obscure, places, both known and not, and objects we think of as iconic. I include animals of the World as we seem to be losing wildlife by the dozen year by year, even as populations are being said to plummet in certain countries.
Regardless of who "wins" an election, they always are up against a Silent Elite. Do you believe the extreme poor who voted for Trump ever thought their non-profit support would be slashed right out from under them?

I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.
It appears US voters hated Woke more than they hated Trump.

I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.
I also give thanks for this ethos richness bestowed on us via British Colonialism.

Mario Zagallo, Brazilan soccer great has died at 92.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67900776

"Zagallo was a winger in the Brazil team who won back-to-back World Cups in 1958 and 1962, starting in both finals.

He managed the side widely regarded as the greatest international team of all time, including Pele, Jairzinho and Carlos Alberto, to glory in 1970.

Zagallo's final World Cup triumph came as Carlos Alberto Parreira's assistant coach in 1994.

He returned as Brazil manager after that tournament and led them to the final in 1998, where they were beaten by hosts France.

Zagallo was the first person to win the World Cup as both a player and a manager - a feat that has since been matched by Germany's Franz Beckenbauer and France's Didier Deschamps...."

Derek Draper, age 56, heart attack. Second to die on the death list, odd that one of the oldest on it and now one of the youngest on it are both gone so early into 2024.

He contracted Covid early on, so there would not have been a vaccine yet.
But he died of a heart attack in 2024, January 5.
