VANOC's exclusion of womens jumping

Post by mountainmama »

I saw a comment yesterday, recommending that people boycott Olympic sponsors. There is a site where anyone that feels the unfairness of the actions of Vanoc, can add their name to a petition. The site is Care2petitionsite-"Let Women Ski Jump in 2010". Here is a chance for those of you that sympathize with this tyrannical decision to do something. :sleepdeprived:

I think the women are an embarassment.
If they want to be treated equally, they should stop behaving like spoiled children.
I couldn't believe the one interview where one of the competitors compared Vanoc to the Taliban.
Perhaps she should be shipped over there to find out how they treat women.

Not every sport get into the Olympics every year. Sometimes they try a sport one year and then it is not included the next year.

The BS about human rights is absolutely laughable.
Since when is it a human right to participate in the Olympics?!

Waaah waaaah waaah. I wanna be in the Olympics too.
I don't actually do a sport, but it's my right if I want to be included.

VANOC didn't say 'no' to the ski jumpers....it was the IOC. Stop being a d**k.

They took it up with VANOC first. Then they were told they had to go to the IOC.

I will be whatever I want, thanks. It's my right.

This.

Obviously the IOC has to be selective about what sporting events make it into the Olympics and the criteria they use to make the selections seems quite reasonable: appeal, # of athletes, # of countries participating.
