Re: The glowing reviews keep pouring in.
Well, here's hoping the Brits are paying attention and learning something. They already failed the first part of the test - don't bid on the Olympics! We'll see how they do with the rest of it or if it is just their turn next to massively and expensively flop.

BTW you watch the Daytona 500?
I loved the finish. Junior went from like 22nd to 2nd in a lap.
Love the new rule they implemented for finishes as I always hated when a race finished under yellow.

Brits............ the people that should be among the last to have any opinion pertaining to a winter sporting event.
They're just mad because bar brawling isn't an Olympic Sport since that's the only thing they have after the plan for world domination failed.
Oh wait they did have some clown named Eddie the Eagle entered in the Olympic Ski Jumping in Calgary if memory serves.
Was good comedy at least. :dyinglaughing:

Oh I dunno, I'm sure the Brits could do well at Soccer Stadium Stampede.
I have to wonder if the British rag obsession with trashing these Olympics has something to do with stirring the pot at home, since the 2012 summer Olympics are taking place in London.

Watching the RUSvsLAT hockey game on CTV and I gotta say....worst hockey coverage EVER! You would think they would get a Sportsnet crew to cover the hockey as they have experience at this. But as far as I can tell they pulled the cameramen off the street on E Hastings. Worst camera work I have ever seen. And the announcers....*bleep* is that all about?
Watching the mens figure skating....(yea I know it's gay...whatever) and they had one of the most obnoxious figure skating snobs as commentator I have ever heard. The other two announcers were both getting into snits with him. It was almost comical if it wasn't so sad.

Incredible that none of us can find a few million to invest in marginalized persons and groups that would actually result in real lasting social benefits and long term savings to the taxpayer, but we can blow billions (yes, that was billions with a “b”) on two week hiatus for the rich and famous that not only has no lasting long term positive effect but places us in a debt position we cannot redress in our lifetime. Is growing collective stupidity part of some evolutionary process?grammafreddy wrote:Well, here's hoping the Brits are paying attention and learning something. Pity you can't find anything to do but travel throughout these forums spewing your negativity in endless displays of immature ignorance out of a pathetic lack of useful pursuits.
BTW just to clue you in to the difference there was no Olympian killed during an event at these Olympics. He messed up during a practice run (one of many he'd engaged in) before the Olympics even began ergo he DID NOT DIE IN AN EVENT!

:offtopic: ...Where is the NASCAR thread or where would you like it?, I too am a big fan.
51" soundsuround..
:backtotopic: Watched a little American news..All negative,What is with the media dwelling on what is wrong, instead of what is right,
Most citizens I've seen interviewed are having a fantastic time in spite of having to wait for a bus or some other inconvenience.
It is a shame that a pile of people could not attend some events a Cypress, but, as I understood it, it was for the sake of safety. Didn't matter how they played that card, there would have been complaints either way. Go, fall down, get hurt, or don't go!!!!

But hey, some pot smoking hippy chick won gold in that most prestigious of Olympic events....SNOWBOARDING....so it was worth it.......lol! Unfortunately people with standing room tickets couldn't watch.steven lloyd wrote:Incredible that none of us can find a few million to invest in marginalized persons and groups that would actually result in real lasting social benefits and long term savings to the taxpayer, but we can blow billions (yes, that was billions with a “b”) on two week hiatus for the rich and famous that not only has no lasting long term positive effect but places us in a debt position we cannot redress in our lifetime. PS: Don't know her, seems like a nice person and I am sure she worked hard for it. Just saying, she does give the distinct impression she smokes a lot of pot. Same with the guy who got silver. Just sayin. I wish them all the best and hope they both get lucrative corporate endorsement contracts selling cheetos, pringles, oreo cookies, and maybe get some video games named after them.

Actually all I was wondering was how a people that keeps killing innocents during soccer matches can feel they have a right to slam another country for something that truly was accidental?Nebula wrote:Oh I dunno, I'm sure the Brits could do well at Soccer Stadium Stampede.

My gut tells me that they have all the potential needed to host the worst Summer Olympics ever given they can't generally succeed in controlling the emotions at one soccer game never mind multiple events in various places.

I think the Americans are still *bleep* about that Loonie at center ice in Salt Lake. Like geez, get over it.
