Proud to be Canadian

Post by prairieflower »

I have always been a proud Canadian....from day 1..well 43yrs ago ;) But right now, i am even prouder.

Our Canadian athletes have done so well at these Olympics! They all, and i mean all... medal winners and non-medal winners deserve so much praise for a job well done!

To the public, in Vancouver, and throughout the whole province, who have shown their support, their colors and their cheers.... way to go.

We have done so very well Canada...pat yourself on the back for your never ending patriotism.

Hard to describe a feeling when you walk through busy Downtown Vancouver streets, and the crowd starts singing our anthem all of sudden.

Did you want to start goose-stepping, throw up your arm and shout "Heil Gordo" ?

Sorry - just kidding.

No, I immediately reported to The Guardian the high level of noise on the street so they could add it to the long list of "Worst Olympics Ever" symptoms as a noble Canada-hating citizen :)

Just a note that this post has nothing to do with the bs that we will be left with after the Olympics are over.....Just a proud Canadian sharing what she believes in.... that is so very proud to be born and raised in this wonderful country :nyah: :discodance:

Increased pride in Canada is one of the legacies of the 2010 games. While the Americans go overboard when it comes to patriotism we're too much the other way. These Olympic games have helped ratchet up those patriotic feelings north of the 49th parallel and that's a good thing.

Now the debate begins - who is going to be singing at the Closing ceremonies? My vote - Rita McNeil - cuz then you know the show is over.... :1422: :dyinglaughing:

Rita MacNeil is a great choice.

Hopefully our Anthem will not get murdered like it was at the Opening Ceremonies. That was disgraceful.

Seems to be some confusion over who will get to carry the flag. Widely reported yesterday it will be Charles Hamelin, but the COC is denying that.

Why is it so important? But if you must know it's gonna be Joannie Rochette. That works for me as long as she is comfortable with it.

Will it involve a pickup truck or some other gas-guzzling vehicle to *bleep* off tender tree huggers?
