Updates to the Forums

Post by Troy »

Just a heads up, we will be launching a visual update to the forums very soon - possibly this morning. It also includes some improvements for anyone using a phone to browse the forums. It's only a part of the changes that will be coming. There are further plans to make even more significant changes that will benefit users of devices of all screen sizes. I also have some updates to the software itself to do, and haven't forgotten about your Like button (or similar feature) request.

As always, you can also contact me directly with your requests for any part of the website.

First impressions - spaced out more. Leaning towards the old format. I'm finding it harder to read on the computer.

I'm posting this from Traditional lands of the British Empire & the current Lands of The Dominion of Canada.

I find the all white background to be too stark.

I agree with ok-weezy.
I prefer shades of blue.
Light blue and darker blue to differentiate the topics and the threads.
But like anything else, we'll get used to it I guess. :D

Thanks - the lack of contrast is what's bothering me the most.

Have you tried "dark theme for google" extension?
Overview
The best dark Chrome theme for your web browser. It's simple and coherent.

It's one beautiful dark theme (dark skin) for your Chrome web browser. It's simple and coherent that with the Turn Off the Lights Browser extension style.

Here the high quality theme use not the shining black as background and frame color. Because this reflects everything back to you. That is why this darkness theme is a 80% black, this extend with the same dark color as the light off layer in the Turn Off the Lights Browser extension. This dark mode theme is very convenient for eye strain during the night.

That sounds like it would change more than Castanet forums on my computer.

There might be a contrast setting for your Monitor that will help. Google make and model for info.

I’ll try that if it bugs me too much. Funny my phone doesn’t bother me.

the extension works for all web sites that you want to use "dark mode" OR

you can disable "dark mode" for all other web sites you visit other than castanet.

I've just found it works much better when a website offers dark mode, as compared to forcing it.

I forced Castanet to go dark a couple months back and it looked terrible.

I use dark mode on facebook for example and it works fine and much easier on the eyes.
