Re: Updates to the Forums
I see Castanet News Comments forum is at the very bottom of the page. News articles people want to discuss will likely be created in the applicable area. I hadn't even noticed one moved until I went to the Kelowna forum to check on it and it wasn't there. Not sure this update is a good one.

Re: Updates to the Forums
It's a brand new feature that's primarily for our news pages and it was just soft-launched this morning. I have just moved it to the top of the forums now. Also, it's only for stories that our news staff have turned on comments for too.

Re: Updates to the Forums
Would be great if the same news stories are added together i.e.
viewtopic.php?f=134&t=96082

Re: Updates to the Forums
Has anyone looked at who are making many of the comments on this new section?
They're mainly newbies, or they've signed on several years ago and are now making their first, second, fourth comment.
Strange that this is attracting them but they aren't on the main board.

Re: Updates to the Forums
That is probably because those users who comment are making it from the main page where the article is posted. If you notice at the bottom of the article it has "post comment". Other articles created by castanet do not offer this.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Updates to the Forums
I can see there's a link to the main page and the forum so one can see comments in both areas.

It's just another way to get peoples interest and to comment.
Clickbait.
I'm not a fan of it.

Re: Updates to the Forums
I was but having second thoughts when clicking on Quick Links and what’s new then weeding through a dozen Castanet News links. Also don’t like to see my name on the main page. If I wanted to comment there I would have.

Re: Updates to the Forums
Gave the new format a good shot but two issues still remain - duplicate threads and having to weed through a couple of pages of new posts from Castanet news and not interested in doing that anymore.

Re: Updates to the Forums
Looks to me like the topics get very few posts.
I am still not a fan and just scroll on by.

Strange that newbies appear from out of their shells after being silent for 3-5 years, like Lazarus emerging from the ashes
Maybe this new format is giving rise to a new awakening?

Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice. There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice, at which there is simply no way to become THAT ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.
