Re: Kelowna Voting Results!
I'm not really a big fan of either of the two major mayoral candidates, although as a younger person I was a bit concerned about some of the socially conservative things I've heard about Gray I am optimistic that he will focus a little more on job creation and I don't think a mayor really has much influence in social arenas anyway. I really didn't feel that the outgoing mayor did many things of substance outside of the one nice downtown park. There were some ideas I liked the sound of that never really went anywhere like the central green thing and the downtown redevelopment.
Also hopefully in the next election castanet stays a bit more neutral, I totally respect the ideas behind the four change thing but I'd like to see the news outlets (which I consider castanet to be one of) stay out of backing individual candidates. My 2 cents anyway.

Much like how the electorate held Sharon accountable. Not to mention her flock.
How badly were their *bleep* nailed to crosses?
Move on. I am.
Now it's backyard chickens and affordable rental housing for working folks.
And watching council's kick-backs, of course.

I am with you Grandma. Well said. Not sour grapes. Truth always hurts. But in politics nowadays truth is not important. Anything to win. Sa state of affairs.

I wonder if we'll ever see Cal Condy's or Scott Ross' postings on here again.

Oliver, Kelowna, Vernon and Salmon Arm are the only towns in our area that have elected new mayors. All the other towns have returning mayors. They just said on the news that the Penticton mayor is the first mayor in that town to have won a second term since 1993. Right now I cant wait to see whats in store for Kelowna now that we have a new (returning) mayor and 5 new city councillors. This could get interesting.

We didn't vote a "new" mayor. We voted in an old one, much to my chagrin.
The 5 new city councilors is nice. And we've finally not voted Hobson and Blanleil as number one and two.
Maybe next time we can get them out.

Word on the street is that the Kelowna firefighters will be getting a new BBQ now that Zimmerman is in.
