Grammafreddy - obituary

We lost a long-time member of our board this past week. Sue Thomson - who we all knew as ‘grammafreddy’, our ‘Chief Sh*t-Disturber’ - died on Tuesday, May 27. She was only 63.

Sue’s death came as a shock to her loved ones, daughter Melissa and her "significant other", Ray Miller (known on this board as ‘hardnut’), and will be a shock to all of us here as well.

We all knew Sue as an intelligent woman with strong opinions and a gritty determination that was surpassed by few. Ray tells me that Sue was a warm and caring human being with a grand passion for life, but who was slowed down in later years by her declining health. Her posts tell us that as well. She was articulate and intelligent, and quick to defend anybody who needed defending. Some of our members knew Sue in ‘real’ life, and can attest to her love of life, and her determination to do right, whatever it took. I’ve never met Sue, but would have liked to.

An obituary will be forthcoming, wtih a memorial service planned for the future. I will keep you posted as I learn more.

I am totally shocked and very saddened. I was able to meet Sue in person some years ago and we kept in touch from time to time with PMs and emails. She was bright, witty, salt-of-the-earth and her opinions were based mainly on her life experience. Her talents were many; her photography in particular was expressive and thought-provoking.

My sincere condolences to her family and her many friends.

OMG this is so sad. My condolances to Sue's family.

I'm still shocked! We were chatting no later than last week and were supposed to meet in the very near future and was really looking forward to it. Should have done it last year when we had the opportunity to do so.

Hard learned lesson never to never put off til tomorrow what we can do today.

She seemed to be a very genuine, caring & loving person.

OMG, still shocked.

RIP Gramma Freddy, you will be missed.
