After 9 yrs in power, at some point you have to take responsibility. It's been mentioned many times that Alberta should've planned for these dips in oil prices, to bad Federally we haven't taken that advice.

add to that this new war we will need to be involved with plus the associated costs

Or perhaps a snap election in March?

TD says they can't balance.

Prentice says Alberta will have big deficit.

BC is not immune either. Natural Gas prices have dropped a chunk, and copper has dropped significantly.

The national debt has already skyrocketed.

Buying votes with tax cuts never works out. Folks somehow assume that you can cut taxes and still deliver the services that keep the economy and people humming along. You can do one or the other if taxes are reasonable.

The only real solution is going to be a combination of service cuts and tax increases. Of course that is a platform no politician will run on. In modern times there have been two governments that did that: Clinton and Chretien/Martin. The economy improved under both governments.

G.W. Bush and his wannabee Harper both cut taxes and increased expenditures a lot. Well gee. Hard to see why that doesn't work? Good politics, lousy economic and fiscal management.

oh good grief. It's nonsense like this that is why you are going to be crying the blues the day after the next federal election. You guys just don't get it. You can write this kind of stuff every day and twice on Sundays, but if you don't focus on why your guy is actually electable, you will still lose. And lose big. So Harper is a wannabe GW Bush. Well Mulcair is a wannabe Kim Jong Un and Trudeau is a wannabe Zoolander. They both don't give anyone any confidence, at least, unless you drink their Kool-Aid or are so blinded by hatred that you don't care if they destroy the economy.

Instead of constant negativity - how about some positivity instead? What is so positive about your guys that you support? Can you do it? Can you at least try? Or is that just too hard?

ok...still not enough votes in that. Only the zealots will vote for Trudeau or Mulcair, unless they come up with an actual platform.

"I don't think they have any idea what they're doing. It becomes clear that their plan for the Canadian economy has failed Canadians and now they're hitting the panic button, suggesting that somehow things will be remarkably different three months hence," he said.

"If that's the Conservatives' economic plan for Canada — hope that the world markets on oil suddenly pick up and double the value for a barrel — my goodness. That's somebody hiding under the covers and hoping bad things will just go away.

"He's got to deal with reality now and show up to work and try to help Canadians who just lost their jobs."

I bet both Trudeau and Mulcair have actual platforms, but if they reveal them now it'll give Harper ample opportunity to take bits and pieces of their platforms completely out of context, twist words and facts around, then produce another series of attack ads...cause that's the Harper way of doing things.

Or even more likely, the fact that their platforms are terrible will be exposed, and those who refuse to see it or just can't understand that they are terrible will accuse others who are just pointing out the horribleness and unelectability of both candidates of "twisting words and facts around" etc. etc....cause that's the NDP way of doing things.

Budgets will be explained away- the best ad companies will win that war. But....a good old scandal is hard to explain away- right Mr. Duffy...

I wonder what he will have to say and when he will appear!
