And every radio and TV station. But it's ok to do that if you are socialist. Just ask Sean Penn.

You know this eh? I can see if you are an aging hippy desperate to appear cool to younger Marxist types on internet forums, any discussion of math would cause your head to ache and you would consider it "droning on". Math is hard. We get that. Leftists like being lazy, so math is just not worth doing. Better to turn off your brain, and let that little warm spot in your tummy guide all of your decisions. Budgets balance themselves anyway.

Apparently it is reading for comprehension that you alt right extremists continue to have difficulty with.

not sure who "you" is in this statement, but if anyone implies that I am some kind of "alt right extremist", then they are a complete idiot, and probably an "alt-left echo chamber dweller".

Seen a report today. 40 percent of businesses unable to reopen after recent 3000 percent wage hikes. Who would a thunk it ? Guess this is just more good work by Maduro and company.

On a very real note. I wonder if this is not part of a larger plan. Empty out the country. Then get rid of Maduro and co. Move in. Take over the oil .. seems a good plan. Already gotten rid of 10 percent of the people in a few years. This is just wild speculation by me. However. Looking at whats going on. And what they have for reserves. It would not surprise me . This could have been planned 30 years ago

Found this on Reuters

Maduro's leftist government sold a 9.9 percent stake in the low-cost Sinovensa joint venture, where China National Petroleum Corporation has a 40 percent share, to China, it said in a statement.

The statement also said China and Venezuela had signed a "memorandum for cooperation in Ayacucho bloc 6," located in Venezuela's vast oil-rich Orinoco Belt, without elaborating.

China will drill 300 wells in Ayacucho and extend $184 million in financing for the joint oil venture Petrozumano, the statement added

China is not communist any more, according to the definition of communism.

From different sources on the subject.

Not a really collectivized economy, private businesses and capital exist everywhere. The ruling party is the CCP, but the fact that the market exists means that it is simply not a “communism” by definition. Authoritarian? True. Communism? More like corporatism.

To say China is a communist country either means you are out-of-date, misinformed, or trying to maintain justification for your right to govern China by the continuation of a political and historical narrative.

The CCP still has a singular grip on power but this does not make it "communist," but authoritarian.

If China was to meet the criteria of communism, why are there so many Chinese people acquired the wealth and be allowed to invest in BC real estate?

Hairsplitting ....must be a dull day there. China is still a repressive regime any way you cut it. You have lots of time so maybe look up at how they are dealing with northern tribes and how they are killing Tibet.

Just to make you smile today Alan:

Yes. it is a dull day today, just like every Sunday.

I still can't see how the politics of China and Tibet end up in the Venezuela thread.

Probably because Jflem's post indicated that China has moved quickly in on Venezuela, weak and bleeding from all orifices to cut a deal. Cash for the corrupt gov't of V. and a source of oil for China. This is par for the course as China has used their cash the same way in Africa and even in the USA by reopening a manufacturing plant in east (Illinois ?).

So What? This is none of our business.

Why not jump on the starving Biafran bandwagon?

We can't fix the rest of the world's problems by complaining about them on the Kelowna forums.
We can't even fix our own homeless/drug addicted problems.
Who are we to tell other countries how to run theirs, just because they are different than ours. ?

Hell, we can't fix the downtown problem, never mind the Rutland or Williams Lake problems.

The Chinese have been stepping into vacuums and taking over vast areas of oil-rich land, without much fanfare. They will control Venezuela if they don't already (and yes, they've got some big investments in Canada too) and they are slowly but surely taking over Africa. The biggest joke was when a Canadian oil company was operating in Sudan, and the touchy-feely warm tummy crowd was showing up at their shareholder meetings protesting that it was wrong that a Canadian company was "exploiting" the Sudanese. That company sold off its investment to the Chinese, and these protestors disappeared. The Chinese rolled in 50,000 troops into Sudan to protect their interests, and the protestors were silent.

The Chinese can operate on a level with almost no scrutiny and don't give a *bleep* about idiot protestors. They have a huge advantage. This planet is going to look a lot different in 50 years, and in 100 years.

Yes you are right my own father worked for the Chinese for years. CNOOC. Huge company. Drilling offshore out of Indonesia Thailand and area. Nobody protests them . In fact if you look around the world it is only Canadian oil that is protested. Everyone else seems to have good reason to develop their own resources.

Back to Venezuela. Many Canadian companies were kicked out. Crystallex a defunct miner. Is owed 1.4 billion. Awarded by court order. This is set against Citgo. Citgo has already been promised to Russia in return for debt. See how the big players are all here in Venezuela. This is a powder keg waiting to touch off

Yes, their modus operandi also includes shipping their own Chinese workers into their new project sites, leaving the locals unemployed. And they don't go back home.

Nice.
