Well stated Urbane.
I doubt the dissenters have any desire or inclination to acknowledge any good that has come from Liberal governance. It's simply not in them.

Nevermind BC Rail...Here's What Really Has Ms. Clark's Wizards Worried Today.

Mario Canseco of Angus Reid has the data and he's mainlined it straight into his Globe pipeline.
Here's a small chunk of the thing (careful; don't use up your monthly allotment too soon*):
....This week, after British Columbians had a chance to explore two different points of view, it appears that the rosy picture of a province without a deficit is actually regarded as a mirage. Only one in four respondents to our poll (23 per cent) think that the Liberal forecast of a $197-million budget surplus in the 2013/14 fiscal year, and a $211-million surplus in 2014/15 – made possible by revenues from natural gas royalties and asset sales – is believable. In stark contrast, half of respondents (50 per cent) think the B.C. NDP is closer to reality on this file, after the party’s financial specialists estimated a deficit of $790-million for the 2013/14 fiscal year and $847-million for 2014/15.
Even more troubling for the B.C. Liberals is the fact that many voters who supported Gordon Campbell in 2009, and consistently saw him as a better economic manager than then-rival Carole James, are not entirely sold on the numbers offered by the current government. The surplus forecast resonates with only 49 per cent of the people who voted for the Liberals in 2009. Simply put, half of the voter base that propelled Mr. Campbell to a third majority mandate, in an election held less than a year after the greatest financial crisis in generations, is looking at the current government’s budget predictions with unease. Conversely, four in five NDP voters in 2009 think that their party’s views on the budget, sombre as they may be, are in tune with reality....
So.
There you have it.
Even folks who would love to believe the fiction of Christy and Co. just can't quite bring themselves to do so.

Re: Upcoming Election.
No amount of copy and pasting, will ever take away the full confidence I have, that were we under NDP control through the last decade, we'd be in far worse shape as a province than we are at present.
No doubt in my mind whatsoever. The only thing I'd be wondering is at what stage of his time as Premier, Dix would have been stepping down due to some scandal or other.

^^I want to move forward. The past 12 years has not been a boon to the average BC taxpayer and looks to be pretty grim in view of the commitments the Liberals have tied us to with the IPPs, Hydro deficits, ICBC deficits and etc all to feather the nests of cronies, friends and corporate interests.
It is time for an adjustment to take place.

Re: Upcoming Election.
Canseco has become an NDP shill. His independence and integrity has been bought. He's injecting personal opinion and commentary into his firm's polling results, which to me certainly indicates his bias. Biased pollers are, at best, useless.

Re: Upcoming Election.
I placed the post about the up-coming election as A warning, In my opinion. In fact since living in BC since the early sixties,I have seen first hand what the NDP have done to BC.It does not matter who wins the Election, As long as it is not the NDP. As I stared the number of people who will flee this province will be huge, same as the ninetys and they will take too many jobs with them. A healthy business invironment cannot survive if the ndp are in power PERIOD !!!!! never could and never will. The turn down in the world economy in the last 10 years would have killed this province, if it were not for the Liberals. Yes they had to make some mistakes,But for the most part we have risen far above what our station was in the ninetys. My greatest fear is that if the ndp get into power they will put this province in the toilet. It is business, and the taxes they pay that keep things progressing, when you chase that away as the ndp have always done, you are biting the hand that feeds you.And in case some of you do not understand, I will simplify for you, when business goes, who,s left to pay the bills???? DUH, do ya think it may be the workin man? Could be, but he will be in alberta!!!

Re: Upcoming Election.
The usual nonsense scare tactics.
Avoid taxes if you can but Alberta is about it have a PST.
It actually costs a lot to move a business to Alberta.
And there is little proof that many moved under the NDP.
Makes all Bc businesses look bad when they say
If we don't get our own way we will move.
Suck it up. The times they are a changin.
Canseco an NDP shill.
Angus Reid is one of the most thorough and
Independent pollens in Canada.

Re: Upcoming Election.
point is that there isnt a healthy business environment. they pin their hopes on things like the HST because it can facilitate their corporate welfare from handouts and low taxes. if the NDP wont give them that then we are better off.

it was bad, but it didn't have to be. BC was destroyed by the incompetent bumbling NDP sham of a government. Look at who is running now for them in the Okanagan - teachers and a union bagman. That's the quality of candidate that the NDP attract. That's why that party continually fails, and why they just aren't a party that is fit to govern. That's why it's no suprise that they suck so hard when they do miraculously get elected. They are a party made up of and supported by disaffected losers.

you are right FF. We need to adjust to a much lower credit rating and a much higher personal tax rate. Perfect.

Re: Upcoming Election.
The only way to smarten up the bc public and the 2 idiot parties is for a minority govt., with pc hold the power. That way you can keep the ndp in check and the libs, very simple.
