I agree with Dayleen's comments on the French. As far as I'm concerned the English beat the French, so why is there even a language issue in this country?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_ ... of_Abraham
The Battle of the Plains of Abraham, also known as the Battle of Quebec, (Bataille des Plaines d'Abraham or Première bataille de Québec in French) was a pivotal battle in the Seven Years' War (referred to as the French and Indian War in the United States). The battle, which began on 13 September 1759, was fought between the British Army and Navy, and the French Army, on a plateau just outside the walls of Quebec City, on land that was originally owned by a farmer named Abraham Martin, hence the name of the battle.
The battle involved fewer than 10,000 troops between both sides, but proved to be a deciding moment in the conflict between France and Britain over the fate of New France, influencing the later creation of Canada.[2]
The culmination of a three-month siege by the British, the battle lasted about 15 minutes. British troops commanded by General James Wolfe successfully resisted the column advance of French troops and Canadian militia under Louis-Joseph, Marquis de Montcalm, using new tactics that proved extremely effective against standard military formations used in most large European conflicts. Both generals were mortally wounded during the battle; Wolfe received a blow that would end his life within only a few minutes of engagement and Montcalm died the next morning after receiving a musket ball wound just below his ribs. In the wake of the battle, France's remaining military force in Canada and the rest of North America came under increasing pressure from British forces.
While the French forces continued to fight and prevailed in several battles after Quebec was captured, the British did not relinquish their hold on the fortress. That tenacity carried over to other areas in North America; within four years, with the Treaty of Paris, most of France's possessions in eastern North America would be ceded to Great Britain.
The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763 to end the war and gave possession of parts of New France to Great Britain, including Canada and the eastern half of French Louisiana—lying between the Mississippi River and the Appalachian Mountains.

She goes on about French being spoken "first" at the Olympics? That is absolutely correct, because French is the first official language of the Olympics (English is second). With a bit of research she would have found that out. Even at the 2012 London Games (in Great Britain, where English is the official language) French was the first language of the Games. It has noting to do with where the Games are held. It is because the founder of the modern Games was French and the Olympic Headquarters are located in Lausanne Switzerland, which is where French is considered the "official" language.

Basically. I got respect for people who call a spade a spade. God forbid you should speak out against the status quo or ruffle feathers in politics. Shame, she might have got my vote otherwise.

Same here. Even though she stepped down I still take this as yet another hit against the liberals for being stupid enough to drag up something that old in the first place. I'm also mildly annoyed that they seem to be trying to censor the people we're allowed to vote for, "racist" or otherwise.

As someone suggested, maybe Dayleen should look at running as an independent.

I never have voted for the NDP. I consider it to be the "dumb" vote. However, after reading the comments from the NDP Candidate that has resigned today, I wouldve had a hard time not voting for her/ them. She said it loud and proud. Now that Dix has accepted her resignation(punted her), he has no chance of getting my vote.

Wow. What a conundrum.
It would have been great to see her elected then throw her under the bus.
But, I suppose, starting the NDP off with a big fat black eye is pretty good too.
...and the NDP scandals begin.

Reading her comments about the first nations, I have to say I agree whole heartedly. I don't find these comments racist at all, but rather the truth of the matter. Sometimes the truth hurts, but at least she had the courage to say what was true. It's too bad she resigned, as she just earned my vote.

Good she resigned. not surprising is the poll...the hatred Kelownians have towards others. You proven what so many posters on Castanet have been saying for years. Bravo. True lowlife CONS.

Those comments didn't exactly come across as hatred, more like frustration.

Black eye for one loser candidate. NDP shine for throwing her out immediately the minute they found out who she really is.
