Re: Viewing your medical records... ?
Problem is many many people have no family GP and very little chance of getting one. Who has all these records for the people with no GP? My GP called me to discuss result of post cancer scan in 2018. I had one every year after that for 5 years and never heard from him again.TylerM4 wrote: ↑Nov 18th, 2024, 11:03 am To set context, there are 2 ways every citizen in the Interior can use to view their medical records:
1) Interior Health's patient portal: https://www.interiorhealth.ca/health-an ... althportal
2) Via the e-health gateway: https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/
BUT, these websites only contain a fraction of your medical information. Usually only test results are shown, and only some test results at that. There is no central repository for medical information in BC (or anywhere in Canada for that matter).
One of the single biggest repositories of medical information will be with your family GP (who does not share his/her info with Interior Health). Also previous family GP's as rarely do your records get transferred when you move to a new GP.

Yes, it is a problem.dodgerdodge wrote: ↑Nov 18th, 2024, 5:23 pm Problem is many many people have no family GP and very little chance of getting one. As to who has the records - the clinic you visited will. Every interaction leaves a record with the care provider you interacted with. You can go to a walk-in clinic and ask for your records although they'll likely charge you a fee and complain about it.
Getting a GP really isn't that hard if you put some effort into it. More of a waiting game than a difficult task.

I’d like to see all records inputted to a medical portal so doesn’t matter what clinic one has visited. Clinics do close.

I thought everything did show up in the provincial health portal regardless of the clinic, hospital, etc. that was visited. I don't login very often though... am I wrong?

Visits to my doctor doesn’t show up nor some specialists diagnosis. I track everything myself but it would be nice to be able to get the doctors’ precise opinion.

My Health Gateway BC info shows records dating back to 1995 from at least 6 different clinics. I'm not sure what site / info other people here are viewing that doesn't include all their med records?

I usually go to LifeLabs. The other day I finally logged on to their site and they had one set of tests, from a mothe ago. Nothing else. I thought they should have results back a few years.
What gives?
