It sure is enough to wear you down - hard to sleep through all the waves of heat, changing sheets and the obvious from drinking so much ice water. Maybe instead of a water bottle, I'll put a martini glass of ice with the little umbrella to lighten the mood if not my inner temperature.

Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

Had a brief chat with my doctor the other day about it, I will be turning 51 in a few weeks and was wondering "When is it going to start?" He said that I am in the 90% of woman who are approaching it. Do you have any relatives who could give you their opinion? My sister, who is 10 years older, started when she was around 52. Our mom died when she was 43, so we don't know from that end.
My worry is having "mood swings" and saying things that later I wished I hadn't.

It took about 1 - 1 1/2 years (can't quite remember - brain function is one of the first things to go lol) for periods to finally stop - yahoo to that. However, mood swings still in full force. Went on hormone therapy for half a year to control severe symptoms and now on herbal remedies. Good luck on controlling mood swings - exercise is more than helpful.

So they don't just stop then, you could go a month without one then have it again...........how nice to have to try and be prepared all the time....
I know what you mean about the brain function, some days it's like I don't remember that or that happening.....
In reading and research, I'm finding I have pretty much every symptom that you can have
Just checked and as of Monday, it was 5 weeks ago since last one so I have no clue, and NO I"M NOT PREGNANT............it's wierd though, I have some of the feelings that I normally have just before a period so who the heck knows................will just keep those cool drinks handy....

sympathy
I'm getting great relief (& lots of laughs) reading all these replies. I also am at that "tender age" (oh hell, who am I kidding I'm miserable!). Maybe all of us need to meet up & have a "Menopause Monday" or something at a local watering hole & we can commiserate (is that the word?) with each other.
As I sit here in my tank top (with the fleece top at hand knowing I'm going to be freezing in a few minutes) I raise a glass to all of us Hormonal Hotties !!!!
