Health choices
i am disturbed by the fact when I take my child to an outing, with all the hype about healthy foods...we can still not find one healthy item to choose.I do not consider a $7 wrap filled with mayo and sauce a healthy choice, or for other venues, onion rings and burgers or what was once a chicken for fingers...do chickens have fingers? I know,at home,I can make a oaded salad for four, under $3...if i could find an establishment with a carrot for under $3...I'd be pleased.I do pack a snack for my child, its still fun for them at times to purchase from the concession...I'd like to hear your thoughts, as well as vegetarian or limited diets....

Subway works, they've got low fat/low cal choices and you control the condiments. MacDonald's ? Burger King ? A&W ? Wendy's ? Not much chance of finding any healthy choices there. Even their salads will be loaded with cheese and high fat dressings.

Re: health choices
Too be honest there isn't a healthy eating out choice that I have found. Jugo Juice isn't as healthy as they lead on, they're drinks aren't bad but the actual food is almost as bad as anywhere else. Subway is a joke as well. If I had kids the last thing I would feed them for lunch is 3 pounds of bread, begging for them to be obese.

Actually, there are choices at Subway that turn in some very acceptable numbers. Sure beats the heck out of anything the burger & fires joints have to offer. Of course the only way to be sure is to cook for yourself.

Re: health choices
That guy who used to be on all those subway commercials lost a load of weight by eating their subs, so the fact he could drop that much weight and still be healthy must mean it's not a bad choice if you have to pick one.

Okay, let's straighten this misconception out. Just because somebody is losing weight does NOT mean they are eating HEALTHY. You could lose a ton of weight on the 'cookie diet' (google it!). It doesn't mean it's healthy.
There is nothing good in subway, besides the veggies if (and I stress IF) they are actually washed. You first have a ton of bread, which has no nutrients in it besides laboratory made "enriched" nutrients, and a lot of bad carbs. The meats are all processed, and don't get me started on processed foods, it's enough to say there are much better choices out there. And lastly most people (maybe not you) lather on the sauces which are nothing but water sugar and chemicals.
So I tell you again, just because somebody lost weight on a certain diet, doesn't not make it healthy.
But it's true it's a better choice than most other places. Still a TERRIBLE choice, but a better choice. It's like choosing to kill yourself a bit slower than eating at the other places.
PS. Jared is fat again.

I think bread gets a worse hype than it should. Whole wheat bread isn't that bad, and people have been eating bread since the dawn of time. Remember when suddenly eggs were so bad for you... or potatoes? If you don't like the results of a study just wait a bit and it'll turn around 180 degrees. I don't believe it's good to cut something from a diet that' we've been eating forever... even if it's not the purest product, at least you can get your wheat, meat, veggies, and fruit in one meal.

Where? It's also a safe bet to say that most of the choices out there are worse than what you could do at Subway.

Re: Health choices
I'm interested in the fact that this has gotten onto a Subway bashing debate.
OP, are you really interested in healthy food or are you more interested in the price of things? From your first post, it seems that the dollar amount is what irks you the most.
As a "healthy lifestyle" type of person, surely you would know that organic foods and anything that isn't processed crap costs more. It is hard for a business to thrive in multitude when your healthy organic sandwich on a flax bun is $10 and a 6 inch Subway one is only $4.00
Pack a lunch.

Absolutely there's worse choices than Subway! Agreed 100% of the way. Subway is still processed non-beneficial garbage.

Since the dawn of time might be a little overboard. And, although I wouldn't eat it, the bread from year 50 probably not that bad for us. Our bread today, is all processed. Check the label on your bread, right now, if you see 'refined' or 'enriched' it's processed with very little nutrients. And the nutrients that are in are laboratory made nutrients! Your body doesn't know what to do with these kind of "nutrients"! And how about the gluten? Even if don't have a gluten intolerance (Celiac) it's a poison for everyone.

Convenience has a price, that's a fact. But if you can't get home for lunch, and you didn't bring a lunch with you, where are you going to go for a quick knosh?

If I am going to go to a "Fast Food" place for a "Treat" I will go to Subway before I will go anywhere else.
