I would do it if the thought of it didn't make me want to vomit and pass out. I have no problem with receiving needles but to withdraw my blood..............ugh.....clunk .....I just dropped to the floor imagining it! Wish I was braver!

For those with vein issues, ask them to use the child size needle, far less painful for blood work, giving, etc.
I would give marrow, I would give a kidney ( of course it would be Trip's :D)
Easy thing to do - can save a lot of lives

Grand for you to do all that. Just please do not try to donate your brain.....

I have given blood on many times as I have a rare blood type AB+ only 3.2% have my blood type. I give for two reasons one being I could save a life and the second is that I am very afraid of needles and I cry each time I go but it does get better for me each time. So if I can do it so can everyone else. One of my favorite questions on that questionnaire is if I had sex with a man that had sex with another man and my respose is I hope not. LOL that is not a question that I have ever asked anyone so I can not say yes or no and be positive about it. If your loved one needed blood the red cross would not have to ask you to donate!

Oh yes, blood and plasma. It's kind of 'you do it for the community' attitude I was brought up with. I think my brother now has some wild total donations he got some special acknowledgement for and he does it like a religion after having some emergency surgery when he was very young (that required some blood) and I guess drove it home.

For those looking for a reason beyond just because it's a good thing to do for the others in the community, giving plasma often leaves a person with a real energy boost that lasts a couple of days (unlike giving blood which can leave you a little weak for a couple of hours). You can also donate plasma more often than blood so it's a bonus round for getting that energy boost and helping out being able to do it so regularly (you can do it weekly I believe).

Not to sound dumb, I hope, but what is the difference between blood and plasma?

I didn't know either so I googled it. They remove the plasma from the blood and return the blood to your body.
Never argue with a fool as those watching might not be able to tell the difference.

oh,,, okay... um, why not just keep the blood? And does that make it so people that refuse blood can have plasma? That would eliminate the need for people who need it being denied for religous reasons.......

Thank you for looking that up.I'll bet a few people didn't know that....
... Kind of like saying I will give you my blood but I want it back,,,
So in the short of it all, , all they are taking to save lives is your time....

Now that I can do...
