OB/GYN appointment wait time?
I have been waiting for over a year for an appointment with an OB/GYN, called this morning to check on it and they assure me it should be this year sometime. You have got to be kidding me! lol

I would imagine that is for a standard check up of some kind. If you have a problem, as in symptoms of something wrong, you would get in much sooner.

No that is not correct unfortunately.
Last year I had major problems and needed a specialist. The wait time was 8-12 months just to see the doctor. They told me I would be put on a cancellation list if i could come either the day of or within 1 day of a call. They also told me that if it worsened to go to the hospital. Even my own GP was upset with this, but there is nothing he could do and he also suggested to go to the ER if something worsened.
The reason is lack of Specialists here and everywhere! The Medical Association needs to bring in more Doctors to the provinces. This will cut down on wait times for things like this and for other types of problems such a surgeries etc.

Re: OB/GYN appointment wait time?
I do have something wrong and the girl also told me that because it is not life threatening, it could be a long wait after THIS long wait. Completely ridiculous. Am checking out wait times and prices for private clinics and out of country. Don't know if it would be feasible, but will see.

Re: OB/GYN appointment wait time?
Get your family doctor to put a referal into all of the OB's in town and see which one has the shortest wait time, and ask if they have any emergency appointments or if you can be on the cancellation list. I have never had to wait more than a month to see ANY doctor, same as my daughter. I wanted her to see a ped last year and the wait was about 9 months, not acceptable, so I did what I suggested to you and bam got a appointment within a week. If it is really painful for you (whatever it is that is bothering you) go into the ER and there is usually a OB there, you will just have to wait a bit if they are busy with a delivery etc. Good luck.
