They may have become sick for other reasons as well. A common cold, poor hygiene, etc. It's not always "the flu", the shot or the wrong vaccine to blame.
There is a very big difference between the sexes as well. Men suffer much more and for longer times than women do. Why do you think that they even offer "Man size" Kleenex?

That would be sexually obtuse. Ask your wife about a "Man cold". She will tell you the difference. It's also seasonal, a "Man" never gets sick during golf, fishing, or hunting season.

I think that is just an advertising gimmick to sell over the counter medicine. One cup of hot lemon concentrate with some ASA in it for $2/cup. Cheaper than rum but, more than Starbucks. All are equal in symptom relief. Much more effective if the wife goes out to buy it for you.
