Post by Bubalouie »

Our old washer is still kicking but now it seems to be leaving almost like a detergent like streak on "some" clothes only.
any suggestions other than buy a new one, don't have the moola for that

What kind is it? Top load or Front load?

Our front load will leave what looks like a black grease mark on some items and needs to be cleaned frequently.

There is a place called Erics appliances (I think) at the corner of Ellis and Recreation drive in Kelowna. He has a ton of used stuff and may be able to repair or take on trade for something else.

It's a top load, it still works fine other than leaving that streak on some clothes, it's almost like all of the soap is not rinsing out even though we use the extra rinse cycle

Powdered or liquid detergent?

Have you checked the pump? Take it out, and open it up, you may find that the impeller is worn and is not completely emptying the drum. Since you have the machine on it's side to look at the pump, check all of the hoses while you are there, the one that goes to the drum may have been plugged by fabric/lint/sand.

Wagners appliances are great for parts and service. Beside Budget rentals at Hyw 97 and Leathhead (I think it's Leathhead).

Have you ever tried running an empty wash cycle and check during every cycle to see what is happening?

What can you do when your washing machine leaves stains?

To clean our front load we put in 2 cups of vinegar in the drum and in the soap dispenser a half a cup Baking soda mixed with a half cup of water.

It really helps clean out the grime build up.

Check the agitator, had same issue and the splines were worn so it would hardly move. Easy to see when you run an empty cycle.

We used to use powder and thought that was the issue, switched to liquid, still doing it. Machine works fine, agitator, pump and all, we clean it regularly but still get this residue.

Then I suggest the issue is with the water supply. Disconnect the supply hoses (both ends) and check the washers. Check the inside of the hoses by swabbing the end closest to the machine first and the tap end second. I am thinking that maybe the hoses are breaking down inside and or there is some residue that has been built up over time. This would be an easy and cheap fix. PM me for further advice.

We have an LG direct drive front load washer that works well.
It is better than the old front load washer we had in the respect that:

1) Direct Drive: No belt on the drive that may eventually need replacing.
2) spins fast to a point where your clothes come out almost dry, I hang my shirts to dry for 1/2 a day
3) 10 year warranty
4) Not so expensive
5) auto-balances
6) discharges used water gradually and not in one big burst that can cause some discharge pipes to over-flow
7) connects to your phone for diagnostics, if ever required.
8) No agitator, keeps the clothes in better repair longer.

lol, just noticed you aren't looking for a new one. Sorry :-)

I’ve got this one too, the load sensor is a great idea
