If you haven't sharpened your knives in 3 years you've probably forgotten what a new edge feels like. Or they haven't been used much. Or they're cheap knives.

Personally, I wouldn't trust T-bones with something like Shuns. At least with a knife store you know they know what a good knife looks like, and how to sharpen it vs. Walmart Henckels.

I've heard the same about House of Knives' manager. That's who did mine last time. There's another dude there who's a real knife geek and does good work - all the way down to a leather strop.

Really miss Knifewear though... that place was badass.

I called the store today after reading your "they do it for free" statement and the girl said not any longer - these are the prices depending on the size of the blade. She also said I could wait for the knives to be sharpened or drop them off to be picked up later.

Too bad you're not in Penticton.
I've been taking my kitchen and hunting knife to Roy at Razor's edge the past 35 years.
Sharp, yes. You can shave the hair off your arm. The way a sharp knife is supposed to. ( my chopping axes were the same)

I use Precision Sharp. They have always done a brilliant job for me.

They don't have a fancy store-front because they are a functional shop, but the work is quality.

Try them out on a lesser blade, first, if you have concerns. Go in and talk to Norm and see how much he knows. Ask him if he's sharpened Shun blades before.
I haven't failed until I quit.

Precision Sharp on Gordon can sharpen anything for you. Leo is the new owner for the last 2 years. He owns and runs the shop with his son helping him a couple of times a week. He is an outstanding man who is very passionate about his business and will not be happy until you are satisfied. I take everything that needs sharpening to him including my kitchen knives. He also does scissors for hairdressers in the valley.
