What is the Best Kitchen Appliance Brand?

Post by Bsuds »

I am looking at appliance ratings and they are all over the map. Reviews can say the exact opposite of what sites like consumer reports or Better Homes and Garden recommend.

Our experience with Samsung appliances is less than stellar. I would give them no more than a 2* rating for reliability.
The induction plate on our range is now acting up and we are looking at possibly having to purchase a new one.

Anyone have some experience with recent stuff they have purchased?

I don't know about brand, but if you don't have a gas range you are dead to me.

I buy a lot of appliances of all brands. Honestly, they don't exist with the exception of some of the high end models. They are garbage that will break down in 5 years. Buy something simple and try to save your money up front.

I was in the appliance last month looking at dish washers. I asked about durability, and the guy straight up told me that they are designed to fail in far less time than they did even 10 years ago (talk about wasting energy/GHG excesses), and he also told me that in most cases price is not a factor on how long it will last. Price is set based upon how fancy it looks and how many features it has. There are few exceptions to that, but those are becoming rarer and rarer as time goes on.

Too expensive to have the line installed to the kitchen or we would definitely look at that.

Not looking to get too fancy but you can't get much for under a grand these days.

I'd suggest that you go to Sears and buy Kenmore ....

They've been gone for some time now , but the 90's washer still works ....

They are still the top Range on some review sites.

Don't forget the distance from the stove surface to a canopy or microwave above the cook surface has to be more with gas as well, adds more cost.

Your comment, Bsuds about Samsung is in line with what I'd read. One sales person, who sells Samsung, excused all the negative reviews explaining "well they sell far more product so naturally they have more complaints". That helped me a lot, I know I won't buy the brand and now won't shop at that store.

I had a KitchenAid washer and dryer set for 18 years before I sold it. Loved it way more than the space-age looking front-load LG machines in the house we bought. I wish I'd kept those and sold what came with the house, damnit.

Cuisinart has offered us great service and parts availability for small appliances.

Cuisinart doesn't offer large appliances though they do have countertop items.

I like our front loading LG washing machine, except I tried to washing my hockey equipment in it the other day, and the pants got stuck against the door and burned a hole though the foam padding. OOPS! Didn't kill the machine though, which is about 12 years old as far as I can tell.

Yup. I have a Kenmore dishwasher I bought in 1998. It has been a tank. Runs every day without any problems.
When it finally packs it in, I will be at a loss what to do.
