IIRC in France, manufactures now have to put a sticker on their appliances/electronics with an expected lifespan of the product.

They kinda do that here...1 year warranty. That's all they guarantee.

So far from what I have read and talked to some in the industry the Whirlpool is one recommended in the price range we are able to afford.

So far the Samsung is behaving but I'm not holding my breath.

With our luck this year it will die cooking Christmas dinner! :200:

Several years ago, on Christmas morning, I turned on the oven to heat up to cook the turkey and it went POP.

Fortunately our neighbors were away for Christmas and we were keeping an eye on their house, so we cooked it in their oven. Close call.

Seems if an appliance is going to go it will go at a crucial time. A few years later our hot water tank blew Christmas eve morning.

Good idea as our neighbors are away and I am keeping an eye on their place.

Here there are frigidaire professional series appliances in the kitchen.. they were hard used before I bought and they give no grief
The whirlpool W /D set awesome
Had LD in last house, like the wall mount oven
Expensive stuff house before that -
Thermador. bah, cost as much to repair as replace
I'd pay for the gas install, friend is on her 3rd range in 5 years, last one died at Christmas ( must be a turkey curse)
Coast usually has some good buys come the New Year

Having two sets of everything has saved me big time. I have two washing machines, two dryers, two fridges, two stoves, two freezers. When one goes down I'm never screwed.

in my experience:
Stove/Range- Fisher & Paykel (DCS) Get the gas if you can.
Fridge: electrolux side x side fidge freezer
Dishwasher: Bosch or Miele. I like them especially because they are almost silent while running.
None of them are the lowest price.

Thanks and unfortunately gas is not an option and the stove brand you mentioned is way, way out of our price range. lol

I agree with the Bosch DW. We just recently purchased one and not only is it exceptionally quiet it does an awesome cleaning job.

So far our range has been behaving. The induction burner is the section that was acting up.

We will hold off until it dies completely, but it is always good to be prepared just in case.

We made it through Christmas dinner so that's a bonus.

Our experience with Samsung appliances is less than stellar. I would give them no more than a 2* rating for reliability.
The induction plate on our range is now acting up and we are looking at possibly having to purchase a new one.

Anyone have some experience with recent stuff they have purchased?
Use Consumer Reports, we've found them to be the most reliable and have used them for years.
