Whoever you get to replace the glass should warranty for leakage etc. If they don't then find someone who does.

I would tell BMW to price match or take a hike. Chances are they just take it to a glass shop to be done and charge you extra.

From a Google search..."They fix chips and cracks, but do not install new windshields. New car dealer. Your local dealer can replace your windshield with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) windshield. Many dealers sub-contract to mobile glass services, who come to the dealership and replace windshields on-site."

Does your windshield have electronics hooked up to it? I wonder if that makes a difference. Master Glass did mine and my daughter's for a very good price, although neither of our vehicles are still under *bleep* <—- (ManuFacturer’s) warranty.

(I’m laughing over the em and the ef being bleeped out)

The $200 windshield replacements are typically done with XYG or Benson glass. They are lower quality products that meet the D.O.T. minimum requirements. They will break more easily than OEE or OEM glass as they are lighter and thinner. I don't understand why ICBC allows these products to be installed. They pay the same amount for these aftermarket parts. And the lifespan is shorter so they will pay out more often. The shops using these products by default offer value to cash customers and then gouge ICBC hard to make up the difference.
