Lake Country municipal election

Post by M and M »

Someone please direct me to a Lake Country municipal candidate election list.
Why have I not seen anything?
Is there any discussion that we should be part of?

All I know is is that Baker needs to be removed. nothing positive has come out of him being in office. Also all of his Counsellors need to go. The younger generation needs to step up and take charge. Baker has damaged so much of what Lake Country stands for and only helps those who can help him. They openly take pay outs from companies and even make suggestions of possible choices. Enough is enough. We have enough empty buildings and subdivisions. Fix sunburn hill first!!! Get that second road through! They also told the MacDonalds they could not build a golf resort; even after they complied with Counsels orders, because we had a golf course. However not even a year later our course was sold and now we are out the possibility of a golf resort that could have provided jobs and housing as well as restaurant and many other positive amenities. How come The Lakes has its own bus route yet we ignore Oyama, Carrs Landing and OK Center?! Why are most of the houses in Winfield for sale? Why are our buildings empty?!? WE NEED A NEW COUNSEL!!! Please vote for change and vote for those who want to make a positive difference and not sell us out for their own personal gains!

Yeah a museum is for certain a high priority for Lake Country. NOT!!!!

Talk about out of touch!

I wouldn't trust that Mccarthy isn't in the developer's pockets though. He should have run in Kelowna where he lives - he doesn't even live in Lake Country!!!

It looks like we are in for another long 3 years of a horribly ran community! We are not going to move forward with just a residental tax base! If we want to move forward, we need to BRAND OUR COMMUNITY! WE need to look at a city like Port Moody a look at what it did to help it suceed! As much as i love our small town Lake County, we are way too small to move forward as a community in the direction we are heading! As we only have 4 new candiates running, can we at least see about doing away with the ward system?

An art gallery! Where is the money for that going to come from? When the mayor was asked if the city would fix the entrance way to the dog park due to the ruts and mud he said people could park by the road and walk in. They spend over 65k a year for animal control but are not will to spend a few thousand fixing the road and installing a few lights.

He was born in Lake Country, his parents were born there as far as I know (but may be wrong on one of them...don't know for sure), he has been a councillor in the past for at least one term, and has an excellent knowledge of the area. I don't know where he lives now but he certainly owns property in lake country and there is no rule to ensure people live in the municipality.
As for being in developers pockets, that is a pretty normal bit of rhetoric against big bad developers. The reality is that small developers are chiefly people in the city, your neighbours, and people you probably know. The fact is that he actually is a developer so I don't know what you mean about being in developers pockets......his own pocket?
Would you rather have someone who knows nothing about that sort of thing? Maybe go back to the original Lake Country mayor (McCoubrey) who simply ensured that the new municipality stagnated and was unable to deal with any issue whatsoever?

They can't spend money on fixing a dog park entrance then Ole James wouldn't have enough to pay lawyers for taking citizens to court on frivolous charges. Litigation and a museum that's where Baker's head is at.

There are sound reasons for putting limits on times one can remain in office....
Problem is all those who complain do a rotten job of lobbying and encouraging others to run, or do not put their own name forward because he if you do not think someone is doing the job then you have to admit you think you could do it better.

LOL can you spell control freak?
The ongoing dislike of his replacement has driven Rose into running for council.... guess he wasn't his choice and oh right somehow the CFO, his great sidekick, is gone too...

No matter what the reason, double dipping with a grudge just makes it that much more that one might want to go

hmmmmmmm

or at least "What you think we can't run the District without you?, Why then did you leave?"
