I'm still waiting for someone to give me an answer as to why voters should have given Shepherd another chance. Clearly if people had been happy with her previous tenure then she would have received another mandate. She had an actual record to run on as opposed to Basran, who was even less qualified than Justin the drama teacher for the position, and she still lost. That had nothing to do with six business people, and everything to do with people rejecting a return to the way things were under Shepherd. I know that is a tough pill to swallow for some.
Not afraid to say "It".

As opposed to Basran who only see's a 6 figure pot of gold at the end of a rainbow that he wants to fast track himself into........"BECAUSE I'M YOUNG"......and have NOTHING else to offer.

The voters CLEARLY rejected her experience.

Her dignity is subjective. I find her quiet, mousy, and non-mayoral.

Compassion and $1.50 will buy a coffee at Timmies. Also subjective.

Where did the money come from??
Hmmmmm....

The money that paid for Basran's campaign.

Every pro-Basran commenter fails to realize that his landslide win was due to his expensive and savvy campaign advertising and PR.

Had Shepherd's campaign been invested with the same $, people would know that she is decisive and that she weathered Kelowna through a recession remarkably well when mayor. Also that she genuinely cares about people and this City, an altruistic trait that is in great need and short supply. Had these truths reached the minds of the voters, it would have changed the election outcome I guarantee.

Why do the federal parties make such a big deal of how much money is spent on campaigns? Because they know that whoever spends the most money is at great advantage to win. Our little municipal election should be a wake up call that the long tentacles of money have reached our sleepy hollow.

May be if Shepherd had better ideas or larger support she had more $.

Who cares.....all that mattered in the end was that what SHE offered was rejected by the voters of Kelowna. Blaming it on other things only serves to try to ignore and hide her deficiencies.

Why not sit in the dark little room that you and some others on here inhabit (literally or figuratively) and really try thinking about the alternative reality that Shepherd did not resonate.

For a moment.....just a moment.....open your mind to the possibility that there ISN'T a massive conspiracy launched by rich old white guys named with whatever bastardization you have chosen to give them........imagine that your fellow citizens of Kelowna ALSO exercised their free will to vote based on whatever criteria they used, INCLUDING, but not limited to, not wanting Shepherd to get back in. Imagine that people are free to support whom they want for mayor, whether they are office managers, ex-reporters, retired Saskatchewan residents......anyone. And whether you are a union person, or a RV dealer, or a interior designer, man or woman, you can actually SAY whom you support in public without fear of being ostracized. Then all of the people vote and we count the votes and somebody gets more votes.....maybe one more vote.....maybe thousands more. Regardless of how many more, that person wins the race and becomes mayor. It is done. Over. Fait accompli. One wins and ALL others lose. The winner is congratulated and the losers are thanked for the huge commitment it takes to offer yourself in public for public service to our community.

Now, I know that you and some others that wish to insist that the above simply CANNOT be true would like to stew in the dark little room, imagining conspiracies around every corner. Imagining groups of JP Morgan and John D Rockefeller types sitting in smoky dark back rooms plotting how they will unimaginably screw the rest of society while sipping their scotch and smoking their oversized cigars. Imagining that the people that you know, that you pass in the streets every day, that you deal with in business, your friends and neighbours......imagining that any or all of them may, secretly, be the stupid, zombie, sheeple that must have voted for someone other than your candidate in a municipal election in a medium city in BC Canada. In your dark room, you realize that yourself and a very few others must maintain the quest and continue to shine the light on the conspiracy which will rear its ugly head in 4 years. You must expose the rich old white guys who stand to gain immeasurably by their ghastly deeds, throwing incalculable money at their attempts at community domination. Moneyed henchmen who only do things to serve themselves. Unlike you....the only one who selflessly wishes to have a better community, not understanding how others cannot see this truth.....how can they not SEE it? It is so obvious. The candle flickers in your dark room and you wonder why only you can see the light of the candle.

What the ForKelowna basically said was, "You plebeians are too lazy or stupid or both to know how to vote, so we'll make up your alleged minds for you."

And then they went on to spend large amounts of money to sell their empty box of soap and win against someone who spent almost no money.

It would nice to see someone push for an investigation of this group, just to make sure they dotted all the I's and crossed all of the T's and broke no election laws.

Fact is, Kelowna elected a person to run their city who could not/would not be able to get a decent job anywhere else, in any field. He truly has no qualifications or skills, outside of being a sycophantic lemming. It really was Mayor or Nothing for Colin.

Good job Kelowna, for using your sharp wits and deductive reasoning to see through the smoke screen that was ForKelowna. /sarcasm.

I mean, good lord, even his henchmen and bagmen wouldn't give him a job . . . but brilliant Kelowna voters did, apparently based entirely on warm and fuzzy YouTube videos.

How does one not laugh at this?
