1150AM had a piece on FourChange today; the last line was interesting:

When asked for further information about the group, David Langton, a contact for Four Change, said he was "too busy to comment."

Strange, I thought they wanted to get the word out: must be just to a select few.

I'm curious what people think about the owner of Castanet being involved in a group like this? Problem? No problem?

i dont see a problem with frost, owner of Castanet, or Langton of comp glass or any other people involved with FourChange being involved with a political influence group as long as this group provides FULL disclosure, who they are, what are their objectives, who is financing them, what political ads they are underwriting and are they a registered political group ( I believe they do not have to declare until the 2014 election thanks to the liberals dragging their feet on local election governance).

I would hate to have a repeat of what transpired during the Summerland Civic election last time when some unknown, undeclared "group" (turned out to be some american residing in Summerland) who ran some ads for the "pro growth side" without identifying who belonged to this group. (turns out to be a group of one!)

I don't have a problem with that - he is a citizen and as long as he is entitled to vote in the election, he is entitled to voice his opinion.

What I would have a problem with is if Castanet advertising, news reporting and article writing (not all the stories on Castanet qualify as news IMO) was to become pro-their choice and not balanced and fair to all candidates.

I'm from the old school of journalists and don't like deliberately unbalanced and unfair stuff. If Castanet stoops to that at Frost's bidding, they are no more credible than the supermarket tabloids.

Big problem. . . Castanet has control of the content and the context in which information is edited and released . . . whether or not to publish stories, letters or opinions based on a politcal bias. . . . just as their 'Grassroots want change' story.
In my opinion it's the elites, developers and businesses that want the change.

The tea partiers do stand for something - mainly the constitution of their country. They'd kinda like to keep it. They are also not too wild about this massive debt. But let's not go there -okay?

But I agree the FC folks are not FOR anything. Maybe this is a ploy - advertise to drive people to their website and get them coming back to see if they have put anything more on it. How many times have y'all looked at it so far?

The Capital News ran a story today on FourChange. In it Nick Frost is quoted as saying:

I don't want to say too much because this public knowledge of the group's plans has caught us off guard

This really is a disgusting situation. First; their claims to be 'grass-roots' and 'official' are, to put it politely, less than truthful. Second; they wanted to act clandestinely and are irritated now that they've been outed. This kind of dirty back-room politics is all too common these days; hopefully the citizens of Kelowna treat these people and their chosen candidates with the contempt they deserve.

I have strong suspicions that this is Walter Gray's Platform and these people are the same ones who supported Milroy and the CD21 fiasco. Still wonder why they are anonymous and the members names are not published....hmmm..... I have a feeling they are the entitled few who are more interested in lining their own pockets or inflating their egos than improving the health and well-being of all the citizens in this community....

My guess is that a lot of their "private" members are old money in this city, and don't need donations from the general public!
