You left out the most critical portion of what I stated in the quote you have so vehemently latched onto and of course there is more to this .

I'm mightily glad to hear that you are re-centring oursouls at an increased frequency. Don't burn yourself out. Save some energy for the creatures about you.

I'm sorry to declare that tensions over here would not match up to your hopes. I mean, you don't think I take the words you type seriously do you? Really?

You are suggesting that Jesus has limited omnipotence by having a defined sphere of influence, i.e. "...when it comes to matters of the earth and the saving of mortal souls...". My apologies to you, but omnipotence does not, and cannot, work that way. Do you understand what I mean? It's an 'all or nothing' situation. So, what's it gonna be?

There are professionals that can help.

On the same token, is it fair or even logical to dismiss people's rights to hold their own beliefs, or to suggest that there is something wrong with them when those beliefs do not march in lockstep with yours?

-fluffy-, we have become quite familiar with your periodic turns to unctuous moralising here in the forums under the veiled guise of 'the voice of reason', but in this instance I believe you have crusaded up the wrong bloody tree. No-one has "dismiss[ed] people's rights to hold their own beliefs"!

Let me ask you this:
If a 35 year old hockey player had his two front teeth knocked out in a game, picked them up off the ice then skated over to you asking, "Could you look after these for me 'til after the game; I need to put them under my pillow tonight for the tooth fairy?"
Would you be a little concerned for this hockey player's mental faculty? I would, but what about you? Would you have a little concern for his close family members, especially the children?

You've just answered your own question.

Okay I admit . . . that was a cheap shot and I apologize . . . but you are attacking others beliefs with condescending overtones . . . and one's held beliefs, no matter how absurd you may think they are . . . are extremely personal in nature, so don't be surprised if others respond in kind.

Perhaps"dismiss" was the wrong choice of words, but you are most certainly no stranger to insult and ridicule when it comes to people who walk a different path than you. I have no issue with your personal beliefs, but it would be nice if you could express your views with some semblance of courtesy now and then. Really, from where I sit it looks like you and 5VP were cut from the same cloth.

-fluffy-, you can slag the manner in which I respond all you like, but for sure you will never find me guilty of purposely not replying to a direct question in a direct and pertinent manner. Have a look at the hundreds of questions I have asked that remain unanswered on these threads. Telling? I get the feeling that many of our more sensitive souls do not like the questions I ask, and less so the answers I give, leaving derailment or character assassination tactics their only out. Courteous? Yeah, that extends to answering a question when asked!

Twice now you have compared me to 5VP, and I bet you are waiting to get a rise from it. Keep waiting, but don't hold your breath. Come to think of it, I think you owe 5VP an apology.

unbiased2, next time you offer a challenge you might be mindful of setting one in which the answers will please you. Remember, the only place yours or my beliefs have sanctity is in their own mind. Once outside of your mind, they are fair game.

All I did was to offer up a challenge, a hypothesis for discussion . . . your response was to attack in a demeaning way, proving nothing . . . asserting that you are of superior intellect (only in your own mind), and concluding by telling me to "get a grip" . . . and you don't think that's not an inflammatory inference and personally insulting!

You cannot even accept an apology graciously . . . you're just to full of yourself!

You don't win on these posts, and your not as smart as you think you are, people just choose not to respond to you after a while because your obnoxious and not deserving of any response . . . which I'll do as of now!

Perhaps it is the way you carry yourself that turns people away from engaging you in discussion. unbiased2 raisse an excellent point, when you respond with insult and sarcasm it doesn't do much to encourage discussion. People tend to write you off as boorish and small minded. That may not be an accurate picture of who you are in the real world, but it does little to earn you any credibility here.

The guests here come on their own volition and find their own way through their turmoil. I just collect their money.

There is no earthly way to determine what the universal intentions of God or Jesus are for us here other than what has been written in the Bible.

We have to decide and act upon their guidance for ourselves. It's a personal journey, unique to each of us, and our success, in the end, is determined by how well we handle the bumps and challenges on the road before us.

Semantics aside, I've never presumed to know otherwise and suggest that the Bible would be a good starting point for the answers you seek.

PS.

Is it possible to be "born again" only to miss the boat twice??

That would be sad indeed...

-fluffy-, would you be upset if I told you that I take your "narrow-minded" insult as a complement, given the present company. By narrow, I read focussed ... acutely focused on reality.

I didn't say "narrow-minded", I said "small minded" as in petty and intolerant. Tell me this, in what way do you feel insult and sarcasm benefits a discussion?

Narrow could be true as well – as in constricted, pre-decided and self-limiting. Scientists are challenging and redefining our concepts of reality every day. I don’t know why BA has discontinued challenging his own ideas.
