Okanagan Mission all Candidates Forum

Post by George+ »

With 40+ candidates running, it was a bit of a snorer.
Many had exactly the same goals and some rambled, quickly, through a long list.
There needs to be more focus in the speeches on two or three issues. and
There needs to be just a Q and A session with no speeches.
Let the people ask questions!

Standouts-
Hobson summarized the 'joy of politics' quite well.
Hodge is ready to take on anyone on current council's record.
Given seems to have a lot of common sense background.
Stack has a well balanced vision. and
Zimmerman spoke strongly on listening to all sides.

4 candidates did not even show up-including Andre Blanleil, who has been a 'no show' at both forums so far.

Thanks for the summary, George: I agree that the format was poor with no time for interaction. I also liked Stack and Given; a couple of others I'd hoped to support - Thompson and Shaw - did not come across too well.

As for Blanleil, his attendance at these forums reflects his attendance at council meetings; a no-show. The man is just too arrogant; he thinks his council seat is his my divine right. Let's prove him wrong.

Can't understand why anyone who wants votes would be a no show.

Typical of Blanleil to be a no show. It boggles my mind how he keeps getting reelected every time given his total disinterest in the job he was elected to do. But what's more strange, is the taxpayers in Kelowna don't mind cutting him a cheque every month for doing nothing!

Who were the other 3 no shows?

I heard on 1150 that Blanleil had a serious family health crisis and was with his family during this time.
