Same here; NOT impressed with Robot calls. If they can't take the time to personally call me (or have a campaign crew do it), then they're off my list. Sure robots are faster but the personal touch is gone.valleygirl1 wrote:Just got the same call from Dan's robodialer... then one right after from Konanz robodialer... thanks for taking the time to call me personally folks!

I got a call this morning, I thought they weren't allowed to do that the day of the election or does that only apply at the provincial & federal levels?

I thought that, too..that they weren't allowed to advertise (other than signage) on Election day. Very tacky, even if it might be allowed. I have talked to people who received these automated solicitations and they don't even live inside Penticton city limits (and can't vote for Mayor or council). This would not happen if real people were doing the phoning. It would appear that these candidates prefer "quantity to quality" and just want to hit as many people as they can, regardless if they are legal constituents or not.canuck500 wrote:I got a call this morning, I thought they weren't allowed to do that the day of the election or does that only apply at the provincial & federal levels?

With all the newer phone prefixes, residency is not so clear anymore. I wish all unsolicited calls were banned.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I found this info from an official Elections site. It would appear that a "phone solicitation" on election day may be legal, though still advertising and very unethical if you ask me.canuck500 wrote:I got a call this morning, I thought they weren't allowed to do that the day of the election or does that only apply at the provincial & federal levels?
Can I, or my elector organization, advertise on the day of the election?
You cannot advertise in newspapers or on radio or television on the day of the election, and there must be no campaign material (signs, buttons, brochures etc.) within 100 metres of a voting place. Be careful, if you advertise in a weekly newspaper that is distributed on a Saturday, that your ad does not appear on election day.
