I too remember the cow at the experimental station. If I recall correctly the cow wasn't too appealing - poor soul. I remember being really excited before driving to Summerland, my mom talked about it and I thought it would be much different. Maybe I thought it would be more cartoon like, but my memory is that the 'window' was stained and ooozy looking and I felt bad for the cow after. Does anybody else have memories of the cow?

What was the "disappointment" again? I remember my parents never thinking anything was worth seeing in the Okanagan so they pedalled to the metal all the time. We missed so much. Now I go up to the Summerland research station as much as possible. It's gorgeous up there.

How long have you been in Kelowna? Do you remember the upside down volcanic ceiling at the original Olympia Pizza on Bernard? Remember how it was painted a burnt orange? Now that was cool.

Hey QK I was there from '78 to '03 - I don't think I've ever been inside Olympia sadly.
I'd really like to get my hands on pictures of the Old Kelowna, am thinking of doing a documentary of then and now.
Kelowna is not the town I grew up in anymore :(

I had completely forgotten about the cow. I must have been very young, but I do remember it.

With regard to the Eldorado Arms, the former owner Jennifer Hindle just passed away a few weeks ago.

Yeah it's good times, I can now paint a picture the better times there.
I was just in town after 5.5 years it was heart breaking.
The concrete jungle is the new Orchard/Farm Land/Mountains - Covering all our precious Fertile Land.

Some of my Memories...

Valley Fruit Stand - The Fair when it was on the same grounds.
The Pop Shoppe - Renting Movies, Getting a Pop & a Bag of Popcorn.
The Boardwalk Roller Rink - spent many a weekend nights there...sprained an ankle & a pinky finger.
Flintstones - I once Roller Skated around it at night when it was closed.
Snogo - I can't believe there's no SnoFest
Regatta - when we had a real parade
The time the Tank Outside the Armory was painted Pink

Okanagan Game Farm - I know not in Kelowna but Surprised no ones mentioned it i mean come on there was a Giraffe & Peacocks walking about.
The Library when it was on Richter on the bottom floor of the office building.
Mosaic Books when it was in the Museum Location
Pandora's Box - such a magical place when I was a kid.
Toys & Wheels when it was by Sears.
Tourist in your Own Town!
Scandia - Looney Toons PinBall, the Old Monkeys & Bumper Boats.
Wild & Wet - River Ride
The Drive in Movie Theater - Saw ET there, pretty sure it was my first movie.


I wish the city planners would preserve some of the towns History.

Remember the wild field in the back and the trail through it? Remember the horse tethered there? When we could find a pop bottle and spend money on strawberry candy? The wooden floors in there and the canopy that was good to get under from the rain?

I remember Flintstones as a kid, and we got to take our kids there as really young kids. I remember the Boardwalk and trying to stay upright. I remember living in Penticton as a youngster and being jealous of Kelowna when we drove through it, because it was always so beautiful.
