Reminds me of a time we had my parents staying over and we watched “Apocalypto”. A bit graphic and maybe not the best movie selection for elderly folk, and admittedly dad might have been taking a bit of a self-defensive stance when he said “They never did that” – referring to the slavers who would hunt and catch their own people to take for sacrifice. We had to explain, “Well dad, yes they did.

I mean God bless my Dad. He’s a university science grad and worked over forty years as a pharmacist but his thinking isn’t what it used to be. There’s two reasons for that:

1. He’s well into his eighties and just starting to show some signs of the onset of senility
2. He’s conservative/reform and has a hard time thinking outside his box.

I've contacted Jeremy directly to express my support and ask if I can purchase a copy of the DVD. I'll be F'd if I'm gonna let a bunch of ignorant kelowna d1ckh3ads prevent me from seeing this documentary. Here's a newsflash for you... stopping this documentary from being shown in no way prevents donkeys from being sexually abused in South America... Give your heads a shake. Feel free to close your own minds and ignore what's happening in the rest of the world but don't try to make my decisions for me, a$$h0les.

Good for you...hope you enjoy it.
But, just remember that the citizens of Kelowna did not prevent this film from being shown, nor did they shut the festival down.
The OFF screwed up. They chose to go ahead and make public announcements about the festival, the venue and the films without first securing a venue in the first place. They chose to show unrated films without permission to do so. They chose to publicize the info about this film prematurely...probably in hopes of boosting attendance over a contraversial subject....backfired on them.
So...blame the organizers for poor planning instead of attacking everyone who lives here.

Religions advocate some pretty sicko stuff, eh?

So what is it, tradition or religion? Which religion tells them they must have sex with donkeys Gramma?

Did I say their religion said they must have sex with donkeys? No, I did not.

Then what did you mean by religion advocating sick stuff? Seeing as the sick thing in question is having sex with donkeys, how does their religion advocate that, and what religion are they?

OK...so she worded things poorly.
The original article stated very clearly that this practice originated due to religious beliefs about contraception and marrying virgins.
No, I'm sure the church does not advocate turning to farm animals to get your rocks off....but the practice was born from religious restrictions.

Most of South America was taken over by the Catholic church...so I would assume they are Catholic. Guess it's better than turning to 10 year old alter boys.

Well that's great!!

Good for you!!! Buy a DVD for me too.

Since "Jeremy" is such a righteous, mind expanding Guru in a sea of ignorance, make sure you let us know when finishes his Willie Pickton "documentary" so I, as a Kelowna d1ckh3ad, can similarly NOT pay any money to support such childish, insensitive tripe.

Pigs and hookers need their story told too. Sounds like Jeremy has a long career ahead of him, barring any jail time for participating in his subject matter...

Cuz of all this BS I won't be going to this faux Film fest now or any time in the future.

I didn't word it poorly - zzontar chose to twist what I said.

While the church may not directly and specifically say, "Go forth and screw thy donkey instead of thy unmarried females", they sure don't tell them not to. In a roundabout way, the church sanctions this because it achieves their end objective - virgin brides and babies born after wedlock instead of before. The guys get their "fun" and the church turns a blind eye - unless the schools where they teach the boys to do this are religious schools and then that's a whole 'nother thing, isn't it?

Hmmm, I'm married now but If I had to do it all over again I still think I'd pick the girls out of wedlock

I think you're the one twisting things Gramma. Nothing about Atheism says you shouldn't go around screwing donkeys either. So if screwing donkeys wasn't what you were referring to, then is abstaining from sex until marriage the "sicko stuff" you say their church is advocating? If a parent says they don't want their son to go to bed with a woman until he's 18 so he screws a sheep instead, it's really not the parents that advocated he should do that either even though the objective is achieved either.
