Re: Apex Alpine Fire
Do they fight it if it's on the reserve? Seems to me that is native land up there?
You can't fix stupid........BUT you can dress them up and over pay them to teach your kids!

Re: Apex Alpine Fire
its not at the ski hill itself, but at the Apex Guest Ranch - Trail Rides. So this is not native land.
First chopper showed up just after 7am, have not seen anymore yet, but have not really been looking either.

Re: Apex Alpine Fire
When the Boucherie fire started last night, they pulled the air support from the Apex fire and sent it up to Westbank. The Boucherie fire poses more of a threat, so they throw everything they can at it.

2nd chopper just showed up.
imo all fires post a danger. especially since there are homes and animals involved. however I understand the limited air resources we have need to be everywhere at once.

At least 3 Convairs, tail numbers 42 44 & 45, and the Electra are now in constant rotation on this fire. 42 and 45 being recharged with retardant, 44 just airborne again and the Electra at the fire. 3:06 pm.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Looks like the subject line needs an "s".

Re: Apex Alpine Fire
"Apex Mountain Fire update 5 pm...There is another fire, completely unrelated to the Green Mtn Rd / Apex Mtn Rd fire, that is active, located towards Nickel Plate Mine. This fire is 15 to 20 km's away (to the north and west) from Apex Mountain Resort. It is said that this was caused by lightning during the last storm and has been smoldering until today. It is roughly 20 hectares in size (not confirmed)."

I have a few photos to share from my vantage point. Please, keep in mind that I live up the hill on the Westside of Penticton, but not close to the fire, it just looks close (at least that's what I keep telling myself).
