Ellison Wildfire

Post by Phoenix Within »

Called it in already. First was black, now smoke is white. Good luck to crews coming to it.
So I love the Okanagan but it's a place best enjoyed from atop a very large pile of $100 bills. - Spocky

Black smoke is not good. Not sure if the picture on Castanet is accurate but if it is, it looks like a brush pile or something. Good luck and hit it hard. There are a lot of houses close by there.

Doesn't look very bad at all. Hardly any smoke now. 2 heli units dumping fast taking water from the reservoir 10 seconds away :)

Just curious, where is the reservoir 10 seconds away?

Most bucketing from a very close water supply takes at least a 1 to 2 min turnaround. With two machines they have to work in a circuit being safe from each other.

The fire is now in the mop up stage.

They're a stones throw away from Duck Lake.

I think there's one up Beaver Lake Rd.

The water was being taken out if mill creek there is a little reservoir or water source from mill creek right next to where the fire was...they didn't need to run down the hill to duck lake or beaver lake rd. It was very lucky there was that water source right there :)
